Wheel Horse Mower Won't Run?

I have a '79 C-161 Wheel Horse mower. It will only run if I spray starting fluid into the carb. I installed a new battery, gas line, spark plug, and air filter. What can be the problem?

A few things to check:

  1. If your mower will only start if you spray the carburetor with quick start, then you have a blockage in your fuel lines.
  2. If you've left gas in the mower and stored the mower with gas in the tank. Then you more than likely have sludge in your gas tank.
  3. You'll need to remove the gas in the tank and clean the tank.
  4. Also clean the carburetor because there is sludge in the carburetor too.
  5. Look at your spark plugs and change them out if they are burned looking.
