I have a 1925 University of Washington alumni year book in excellent shape and am wondering what it is worth ? The book is in A+ condition.
It's almost an antique. I would take it to 3 book dealers for appraisals.
On E-Bay it is worth ab out 40 dolllars.
I have the above mentioned set minus 1. Volume 1 covers 1607-1674. It is very old, copyright 1887.
It is over 100 years old so it is an antique. It would be worth more if it were a complete set. I would take it to a book dealer who specializes in old books for an estimate
A missing volume does diminish the overall value of a set but the overall condition will override that.
Here are a couple of sites that have some of these books listed:
www.abebooks.com/
www.biblio.com/
here is an interesting article that you may want to read and save:

I have a copy of the Oxford dictionary of quotations published in 1953. It is in good condition. Is this worth anything?
By Peter S.
Only books that are 100+ years old are sought after by collectors. Since this book doesn't fall into that category it is basically worthless because all the information in the book is online these days. You can't donate this book to a library, donation center or even a school because they can't use them and they have to many.
It has no real value unless it was a first edition or signed by someone famous.
How do I find the value of complete sets of Grolier Universal Encyclopedias, The Book of Popular Science, The Lands and Peoples, and 2 books of The New Webster Dictionary of The English Language book 1-A-Resource, book 2 Respect-Zymurgy. They are 1960 and older.

Unless your books are over 100 years old they don't hold much value at all. Nobody is interested in old books like this. Today all the information is online and easy to access. The only books people buy these days are rare books that are over 100 years old.
I have a 1932 Universal Dictionary, how much is it worth?
By Debbie M
You can search online, check craigslist, old book sites for information, etc. However, old books, dictionaries included, have little value as our computer age has most information instantly available online and always updated.
I have a set of 1968 Great Issues in American Life published by Encyclopedia Britannica, in good condition. What are they worth?
Unless an encyclopedia is over 100 years old and complete, it has very little value. You might want to donate it and take the tax deduction.
Have a nine volume set of "Six Thousand Years of History" dated 1906. I also have a complete set of "Great Books" along with Gateway and Idea sets and finally, 12 vol. "the New Larned History" 1924.
The sets may have some value, however, the values depend upon interested book collectors, similar available sets on the market and condition. You can research online for book collectors, Craig's List, and auction houses. Also try this site:

I have 8 Waverley Children's Dictionary books and 3 Pictorial Knowledge books. Do these have any value or where can I take them if there is not value to them?
Many people have old books they think are valuable and would like to sell. Most old dictionaries, references etc., have very little value, a few dollars at most. Encyclopedias dated after 1923 are essentially worthless but crafters may be interested for the old pictures. Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc., receive donations of tons of old encyclopedias but send them to recycling centers or dumps as they cannot use or sell them.
You can check online for old book collectors, on EBay, Craigs List and other retail sites for possibilities. Everything is now online and updated constantly so old books are just that-old.

If I understand the other postings on this site my complete 1958 World Book Encyclopedia set is worthless except for crafters.

Just to start, I've done Google, eBay, Amazon, anywhere I can think of, including reading your thread on this topic. I will say it's an encyclopedia, but it's from 1915, leather bound, and practically in pristine condition. It's a full 10 book set plus loose leaf extension book. It's Perpetual Encyclopedia Corporation, but says Chicago/Toronto under the name, rather than ones listed saying Chicago/Illinois. It's the Home And School Reference Work, A Library of Practical, Authoritative Information drawn from every dept. of human knowledge. Made in USA.
Could you help find an estimate price to sell, both individually and as a complete set. I'm sending a couple of images to see if it helps. And if you cannot find an estimated price, could you please recommend somewhere that might be able to give a general estimate as I can't afford a professional appraiser.
Thank you for any help you might be able to offer in this. I've owned them more than 20 years and believe I could be only the 2nd owner of these books.
Encyclopedias dated before 1923 may have some value to a collector. You may be able to find more about your books at this site:

I've been cleaning my old house and somehow I've got the New Standard Encyclopedia, volume VIII, 1930, Sydney NSW Australia. I can't even remember where I got it from. Does anybody know if I can sell it or how much I can ask for it.
It's not in bad shape. The covers are just a little bit scratched, but the pages are OK. Thanks in advance!By Niko G

I have an old 1887 Scientific American reference book. It is an official census of the United States by counties for 1880. How much is this book worth?
By dlawnz
Could not find a reference to the book online. This book probably has little value as most of this type of information is now available online. Old book collectors may be interested.

Hi - you may find some information on eBay or Google.
I have 6 books in the set, Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences, Kingsway London. They are in pristine condition. Would these books be worth anything? Printed in London.

I have a book entitled, "Makers of the Americas", by Lansing, Chase, and Nevins published by Heath in 1947. It talks about the discovery of the Americas and the various fights for independence, the Civil War, South America's history, inventions, progress, etc. It goes thru both World Wars.
Additionally, I have a book titled "America's War for Humanity: Pictorial History of the World War for Liberty", by Thomas H. Russell, William D. Eaton, and James M. Miller. The copyright is 1919. It is hardbound with some stains on cover. It is a great read. How do I determine what value these books might have?

I have a 1900 edition of Hill's vest pocket Latin-English, English-Latin dictionary, soft-bound, red, leather-like. It is in good shape. Any idea of its worth?
By Chris
Old dictionaries are often not worth much because so many were printed. However, if your dictionary is a rare printing it may have some value to a collector. This is a page about value of a Webster's encyclopedic dictionary 1891.
The value of Popular Mechanics do-it- yourself books varies quite a bit. While popular in their day, so many of the fix-it projects covered in them are now available as videos on YouTube. There are sites that list them for sale. Other options are craigslist and ultimately donation.
Old reference books in good condition may have value to the right person. This page concerns the value of a new century dictionary.
You need to look inside the atlas to find the publish date for these old reference books. If it over 100 years old it may have some value. This page concerns the value of Encyclopedia Britannica world atlas.
