St. Judes has a program. It is wise to visit their site so you know the kind they can't accept, saving them time and you postage. Here is this wonderful program.

I have some really pretty used Christmas cards, birthday cards, and other greeting cards. I hate to throw them away, if I tear off the written part and just save the front of the card is there anywhere I can send them to be used for crafts.

etc.?

There are lots of places that love to receive the fronts of greeting cards but the best place that I know of is St.Jude's.

Here is a link to find out where to send them.

Nursing facilities repurpose cards and provides residents with crafts and helps to keep fingers flexible, minds motivated, and time taken in fun as they work together on projects. Sometimes the residents sell their finished projects or enter them in their county fair which makes them feel good as they receive compliments on them.

For a short period St. Jude was no longer accepting recycled cards, but now they still are.

Be sure to check the link and address, because the program is improving soon and may have a new address soon.

Other places you can send to are

  • nursing homes
  • correctional facilities
  • senior care facilities
  • you can contact local child daycares, after school programs or arts class if they could use any of the cards for fun crafts.

Consider selling your cards on eBay and donating the proceeds to your charity of choice. Lots of cards (usually 10 or more) sell! I have had a lot of luck doing this. It is a win win! If you need help pricing your lot, check sold auctions to find a grouping that is like yours.

I recommend using a 30 day fixed format. If your batch is heavy, use a USPS one price box so the buyer gets a good price!

these are good for decoupaging, collage and other crafts projects. As well they can simply be useful to reuse

so saying an underfunded elementary school, retirement home, or mental health facility might want them.

I would like to send used greeting cards that I have saved for many years to an organization that can use them. My husband and I are downsizing and I don't just want to toss them out. Please forward to me a current address of someone or an organization that would like the greeting cards to use for their purpose. I will mail them out as soon as I receive an address.

Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.

I'd contact any local schools! They'd probably love to have them for their art classes.

Try daycare centers and preschools in your area. Local churches may also be interested in using them for crafts for Children's Church or VBS, or 4H or Scouts for crafts.

Basically anywhere they do crafts or have younger children will accept old greeting cards to use. This can include a day care center, school, preschool, arts & craft centers, rehabilitation hospitals, churches, and children centers.

You could take it to the Boys and Girls Clubs, or a senior citizen center.

If you are referring to a handwritten note, the answer is no. They are, however, signed by the person who sent them. As well, they would have an inprinted greeting of congratulations.

I had a member of my family that worked for a greeting card company and received many cards that were never sold. I now have many cards that I would love to give away.

I just don't know who to give them to. Any help would be needed, I get more every few months.

Any ideas where to donate unused small sympathy, thank you, and "in appreciation" notes with envelopes in boxes? They are from a funeral home that no longer uses these. I also have tons of prayer cards on 8.5 x11 sheets that are 8 up perforated with picture on the front and verse on the back.

here are lots of different ones. I hope someone can use these.

That would depend on why you are saving them and if they are old enough to have any historical value. If for craft use, just the picture part is saved, which can also be recycled into a postcard.

They just ask for non Hallmark, American Greeting or Disney. It's 5 by 7 or smaller, fronts only with no markings on the back.

Hope that helps.

I always only donate the front of cards. But if there is a letter or message on the inside of the front that I want to keep, I photocopy or if you have a computer printer with copy feature, use that.

Update: St. Jude's has discontinued this program due to a lack of demand and the difficulties in running the program. This page is about donating greeting cards to St. Jude's recycled card program.
