I use a NeilMed bottle, but can't seem to empty it. There is always 1/4 to 1/3 solution left. What am I doing wrong?

It is probably the angle that you are using it...maybe call them and ask for their guidance (and if you are already following their guidance and you still can't get the bottle to empty, they can send you coupons for discounts for future purchases):

You can put sterilized marbles in it to raise up the level of the liquid.

If it is a squeeze bottle this happens often. Normally you need to turn this at an angle or almost upside down in order to get all the liquid out of this bottle. I have switched to a forced-air bottle which is easier to empty because the plastic ones from squeezing them so hard to get the solution out of them seem to split in the end.

I'm not a big fan of reading directions and am nervous when trying something new. What is the easiest way to rinse your sinuses? This is for the purpose of removing pollen and when my nose is clogged.

Thanks!

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Let it cool and put it into a nasal sprayer. I use it every time I mow grass and every night before bed.

I got the sprayer by buying a bottle saline solution from the health food store. I remake this solution every week as it has no preservatives.

I use Hydrasense saline rinse in the large nossle bottle. Rotate nossle until its aimed up your nostril and into your sinus. Tilt head over sink and and spray rinse in until it runs out of your nostril. Repeat with other nostril. Wait a minute or so than blow your nose. If necessary, repeat. I find that it is best to do this frequently, at least a couple of times a day if congested. The brand I use has a formula with eucalyptus which I find very beneficial for clearing clogged sinus.

I use a neti pot - sort of a small pitcher with a nozzle and a top to put my saline solution in. You can get one in a health food store.

Mine was free from an online offer and is made of plastic - maybe the offer is still good.

I suffered from acid reflux which partially damaged my esophagus since then I have suffered from post nasal drip and sinus pressure and headaches. I am limited to taking different sinus medicines because of high blood pressure. Are there any home remedy treatments or over the counter medications I can take?

Sorry about your gut and sinus issues - I can relate! There are several ways to help. First, if you haven't tried a neti pot, a teapot-shaped nasal irrigator, try it. You don't have to use their expensive salt - just use 1 tsp non-iodized salt (do NOT use iodized salt - it can give irritate your nasal passages) to 16 oz. distilled or filtered water. There are more expensive nasal irrigators out there that are designed like Water-piks which work even better and direct the flow better, but they are much more expensive, and you should see if a neti pot is adequate first.

Also, saline sprays can help loosen what is up there throughout the day. Try not to use any with preservatives, as they can actually cause more inflammation. I make my own using saline water with the same recipe above and suck it up into a used nasal spray bottle that I've cleaned with bleach water.

If you are brave, there is a product called Sinus Buster that is made with cayenne that opens up the passages with a blast that will make your eyes pop open, once the tears are over! I bought one bottle of it and decided to make my own. I use the same saline recipe as above, then add a bit of cayenne powder and strain it through a coffee filter. I put it in an old sinus buster bottle or a clean used nasal spray bottle. Not for the faint of heart!

Finally, I use essential oils, particularly rosemary, eucalyptus, and peppermint. I will throw a few drops of each on simmering water and steam over it for 20 minutes a couple of times a day or I will take a hot bath with Epsom salts and several drops of each of the oils. I have also taken a few sea salt crystals and the essential oils and put them in a tiny vial to sniff throughout the day.

Good luck to you!

Try a Neti pot. It requires running warm water through your sinuses and brings a lot of relief to many who use it. You can get one at the drug store or on ebay. Be sure to use purified water as rare infectons have been reported using home tap water.

I sometimes get killer sinus headaches and I can deal with them in these ways. I use saline solution - or you could snuffle salt water - up my nose to my sinuses.
