My dogs are being pestered by flies biting their ears. Will my dog get sick from the fly bites? How do I keep the flies off my dogs?

I read that putting Vaseline on the dog's ears can help protect them. I have had that problem with my Dachshunds and that's what I did. I also picked up the poop more frequently which drew the flies.
I have two Huskies with flies biting their ears, nose, and paws. I used a Troy fly repellent cream I've bought, but it doesn't seem to be doing the job. What do you recommend?

Vaseline works for some flies
I hear you guys keep mentioning this Skin So Soft body oil by Avon. Does it have to be that brand or can I use Royal Almond body oil?
By Adriana S
Stick with the Skin So Soft. I know it works. Don't recognise the other oil. Might draw more flies! haha
How do I get rid of flies? They are biting my 2 dogs' ears and paws, etc. We have chooks (chickens) so they could be attracting them. I have tried Vaseline, petroleum jelly, and canola oil on the ears. I also spray apple cider vinegar, Listerine, etc. around. Any hints would be useful.

I have always used Skin So Soft lotion from Avon on all of my dogs after giving them a bath or also in the summer to keep fleas and flies away.

The flies are really bad this year. Does anyone know what to put on dogs to keep the flies from biting their ears and the rest of their body?
My Pyrenees had puppies outside and the flies are very bad. Is there anything I can put on them to stop these biting flies?
I recently washed my girls (Cobe and Ivy) and found these small black flies on them. They seemed to have gone away and were dead in the water, when I was done bathing them.
I have 2 outside dogs. With the summer here the flies have been biting their ears, as well as body. Their ears and some parts of the body are bloody and even scabbed.
We have two Pits and a Rotwieller that are having trouble with flies biting their ears. We have tried fly sprays and ointments, but they aren't working well.
