Kids always want cartoon birthday cakes. Make your own cake decorations! Mine were cut out of kids Valentine cards. Make your own cake and stick the cutouts on the cake.

Fruit Kabobs
I had a Luau birthday party. My mom and I were thinking of how to make the fruits look cool. We had kabobs that same night, that's when I thought of it: Fruit Kabobs.

Prepare Dishes in Advance for a Communion Party
Make dishes ahead of time in the chafing pan inserts. Give the dish to a friend that will not be at the church and ask them to bake the item before the party starts and to bring to the party when they arrive.

Planning a Reunion
I want to plan a reunion. Everyone is within 50 miles of the reunion site. What are some ideas on food? Should I do burgers and have everyone bring sides and drinks or would it be easier for everyone to bring a covered dish.

Free Cake from a Culinary Class
Free or inexpensive party cake. Call a local technical college. If they offer a culinary class, they may make a cake or other dessert for you for a nominal fee or for free as practice for their students. My daughter wanted a "mad hatter" cake for her birthday.

Have an Artichoke Party
At our house we have what we call artichoke parties. We sit all around the kitchen table and just eat steamed artichokes. It makes for wonderful family bonding time and we love our veggies. A little butter and garlic salt added we have a very fun evening with lots of giggles and stories.

Party Idea: Garden Themed Potato Bar
Fill an oval tin ice bucket with hot baked potatoes. Use different containers such as a decorative flower pot to hold shredded cheese, use the flower pot saucers to hold the bacon bits or another condiment.
