"Tin" Kitchen Backsplash
We had cupboards added on and a new countertop but the old backsplash had been tiled and we couldn't match them up. I put up the paintable wallpaper primed and painted it with silver metallic paint and then several coats of varathane.

Faux Wood Flooring
I recently pulled up the carpeting in my kitchen. My home was built in the mid 1800's so I was hoping for some plank wood flooring. Well to my surprise there was old tile, that was glued down using black tar. I was so upset.

Refurbished Yard Swing
This is a yard swing I received from my local Freecycle. It was a rusty green with a torn seat. I covered it with purple and white striped fabric lined with a sheet of plastic left from another Freecycle deal.

Binding Carpet Remnants
Affordable carpet remnants can be found at thrift stores and carpet discount outlets; however, it's extraordinarily expensive to have a carpet bound with carpet binding. It cost anywhere from $300 to $500 to have a large remnant bound professionally.

Creative Window Treatments
I'm really happy with the window treatments that a friend helped me create for my family room. Instead of using curtain rods, we hung sheer panels on inexpensive metal candle holders purchased from Old Tyme Pottery.

Fun Decorations for Your Fence
Make your fence fun! I not only plant flowers and veggies but I decorate the fence to make gardening even more fun. The ducks I purchased at the Goodwill for $1.00 each and they are made of hard plastic (like PVC material).

Building a Sleeping Loft in a Closet
We have a little girl that stays with us most every weekend and school breaks. She likes having friends over sometimes and we needed another bed in the room with her without taking up a lot of space.

Refurbishing Antique Dining Chairs
Updated with More Photos: I have redone my antique dining chairs from caned seats to padded fabric seats without altering the cane part by cutting plywood seats that are slightly larger than the open area of the seats.

Craft: Entryway Bench
My brother made this bench for his entryway. He calls it a Mexican bench because it is so colorful. It is made of fir and poplar. It took him a week on and off to make.
