Stringing Popcorn for the Tree
Popcorn for stringing will crumble less easily as you string it if you pop it the day before you use it and let it sit out and get a wee bit soggy. By Linda Editor's Note: This one got past us for a Christmas tip but it will be in the archive for next year.

Getting Our Tree in the National Forest
My husband I have a favorite Christmas tradition that we started several years ago. Every year, we cut our own Christmas tree in our nearby National Forest. We leave work early and have a wonderful time tromping through the snow to find just the "right tree."

Packing Peanuts for Decorations
You can use a large needle with fishing line to string together packing peanuts for draping over trees in the yard at Christmas. It won't hurt the tree but if you live where there is significant wind, forget it. You can also use them indoors on the Christmas tree. By Great Granny Vi

"Silver" Chain Outdoor Tree Decoration
Have the kids or grandkids make you a chain of silver for the tree. Mine made me enough to decorate my dwarf peach tree when they were in grade school. Now they are grown and it is still used. They made a "paper chain" using foil. I love it. It has been rained on and windblown, and has lost a few links but still looks great on the tree. HUGS By Great Granny Vi

Use a Timer for Christmas Tree Lighting
For many years we would plug in our tree every evening & then before we went to bed we would unplug it. It finally dawned on us that we could eliminate doing that by using a timer connected to that outlet. Now, like clockwork, our tree goes on at 5 pm and off at 11 pm. Try it, you'll like it.
