Check fixture shutoff valves periodically as well. Both the main valve and fixture valves must be operable so water can be turned off in an emergency or when plumbing repairs are necessary.

All heating systems should be checked periodically by a professional. Consult the installation manual for maintenance frequency, or ask the dealer who installed the system how often professional inspections are recommended. Generally, oil burning units and heat pumps should be inspected annually; gas fired units and electric furnaces every 2 to 3 years.

Radon In The Home
Radon (Rn) is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas. Radon is produced when trace amounts of uranium and radium in the soil or rocks decay. The radon gas will then also decay into radioactive solid particles, called radon daughters or radon progenitors.
