When they are past their prime and ready for pitching. Cut the ring binder portion off ... use the rigid covers in file cabinets for dividers. Very sturdy!

Save all of those new clear plastic bedding bags from your holiday gifts. I have done this for years and used them mainly for groups of toys. You could also use them for a number of other things such as; out of season clothing, bedding, kitchen or bath supplies, etc. They are convienient since you can easily see what you are grabbing (especially for children) and they are not as ridged as store-bought plastic containers that take up unused space. If you come across a sit n spin at a yard sale remove the top handle and use the bottom as a lazy susan in a larger cabinet. Use a Sawz-all to remove the handle or have your 3 year old throw it around a few times:) You can even place a round piece of wood glued on top. (use one of those round side table tops that have the 3 legs).

Before throwing anything out make sure you've removed everything that could be saved for something else. Examples: buttons, zippers etc. from clothes also hinges off of picture frames, batteries out of things, you get the idea. It's amazing what I almost throw away sometimes. I keep different peanut butter jars full of like items.

My Hubby is a diabetic and takes insulin. I save all the small empty bottles from the test strips and the caps from the needles. I use the bottles for pins, beads anything crafty. I also use the caps from the needles for packing material when mailing packages. Everything can be recycled. The caps work perfect like the popcorn packing and it doesn't weigh a lot. And most of all it is FREE!

Glass windows cannot be recycled commercially. They get destroyed. Stores replace their l l/2 thick double windows. I found 5 of them and used them to fill in my back porch. They were 300 to 400 lbs. Two men had a hard time lifting them.
My family goes through a lot of sliced cheese. I kept throwing away those little clear plastic wrappers from the slices and wondering what else could be done with them. I finally found something they're good for - they make excellent disposable spoon rests!
