Making Lots of Cookies Tips
While one batch of cookies is baking I prepare the next batch on parchment paper or foil. As soon as a batch is removed from a cookie sheet, the next batch, on the paper, is slid onto the sheet and goes right in the oven. Speeds up things a lot!

Remembering Which Ingredients Have Been Added
When baking, in order to remember which ingredients have been put into your bowl do this: Place all items to the left of your bowl. As you use them; move to the right of your bowl. You'll know what you've already placed in the bowl and everything on the right is ready to wipe down and put away. By Marian

Bar Cookies for the Holidays
To simplify my baking I make a lot of bar cookies. I bought some extra pans at the thrift store, so now I can leave the cookies in the pans until I am ready to cut them and arrange the gift trays. When empty, they nest so they don't take up a lot of room either. By Linda

Cookie Baking Day
When my kids were small, I would bake several batches of cutout type sugar cookies just after Thanksgiving. I used Christmas Theme Cookie cutters and also cut Christmas shapes from cereal box cardboard. I would cut around them with a knife to make unique cookies. I would pack them into freezer containers and freeze them. Then, on the day the kids got out of school for Christmas vacation, I would have the kitchen table set up for them with icings in several colors, chocolate chips, raisins, cinnamon red hots, colored sprinkles and colored sugar, coconut. etc. They spent the afternoon decorating cookies and making gift plates for friends and family. Rolling Out Sugar Cookies
When rolling out sugar cookies, use powdered sugar instead of flour on your board. It will have a much better flavor, and the cookies will not get hard. By Robin

Pumpkin Instead of Shortening In Baking
Try substituting canned pumpkin for 1/2 the shortening or butter called for in your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe to make a healthier, higher fiber chocolate chip cookie. They really are yummy for fall! By Mary J

Keeping Prepared For Christmas Baking After Thanksgiving
After I roast my Thanksgiving turkey, I place all my Christmas baking supplies and utensitls in the clean roasting pan and keep it out on the counter so I won't have to search and drag everything out as I do my Christmas baking. Makes whipping up a quick batch of something really quick when you don't have to find and then put away everything every time! By Linda
