Shred Financial Papers Before Discarding
Invest in a paper shredder and shred all of your financial papers, receipts, etc. before you throw them away. There is too much identity theft out there and if they are shredded, no one can get your information.

Identity Theft and Your Trash
Beware if anyone is going thru your trash. I know a lady who isn't at home much during the daytime. One day the UPS man showed up at her house with a whole truckload of packages for her. When she insisted that she'd not ordered anything, he said, "well, they're all addressed to you".

Don't Print Social Security Number on Checks
With all the identity theft that goes on it is a smart thing to keep your Social Security numbers off of your checks. Also, the state in which we live will use your social security number as your driver's license number unless you ask them to do differently.

More Tips to Avoid Identity Theft
Be safe, don't carry a purse. Use your pockets. Organize your multi-pocket jeans and slacks. Most women are wearing slacks or jeans now. Only buy slacks with deep pockets and eliminate carrying a purse. After all men carry their wallet on their person which is much safer!

Our bank has encouraged it's customers to NEVER pay bills over the phone. They have had many scary stories about things that went wrong for their customers when they did that.
