How to Grow Annuals
Does anyone have some general tips for growing annuals? I want to plant from seed. Should I start the seeds and grow seedlings first or just plop the seeds in the ground?

Troubleshooting Annuals
By Ellen Brown
Troubleshooting Annuals. Many of us depend heavily on the long lasting blooms of our annuals to carry the weight of the garden's color while our perennials come and go. Although usually much less troublesome than their perennial counterparts, annuals can suffer from a garden variety of maladies.

Growing Sunflowers in Pots
If you don't have much time or don't have a green thumb try growing Sunflowers. They area very easy to grow and fast growing. This one is in an old cast iron pot on my porch. They come in a large variety of colors. I purchased my seeds from ebay. I also put in some broken pieces of vintage pottery for drainage and color.

Buy a Few Seeds, Bring a Lot of Sunshine
Go to literally any store and browse through the humble paper packages of flower seeds until you've found some bright colored ones that bring a smile to your face. I bought a simple package of white daisy flower seeds with yellow centers and I planted them next to an old tree in the back yard. After I watered them a few times, they grew up and into this glorious sight! Just viewing them from the window brings much needed sunshine into my day and cheers me up.

Protecting Annuals from Frost
I don't know how many Gardeners Know this, but use this tip at the end of the Summer. I always dreaded losing my annuals, until the year before last when I discovered this tip. Snip your annuals off just at the bottom of the stem and put new soil and mulch around them right before the first frost.
