Using Low Soil Mix For Vegetable Container Garden
I'm 23 year old male from the UK and starting to grow a patio vegetable garden for the first time. I was reading one of your comments about using soilless mix or low soil mix, what do u mean by that? Is it similar to our peat free compost? If not, is it ok to use peat in a vegetable garden if your using containers?

Do-It Yourself Liquid Fertilizers & Teas
By Ellen Brown
One of the fundamental principles of organic gardening is to "feed the soil, not the plant." The idea behind this concept is that if you start with healthy soil in the first place, you won't need a lot of additional fertilizers.

Gardening in Rocky Soil
I have very rocky soil making any digging with a shovel very difficult. Any suggestions? I've been here a year and already have two large piles of roundish river rock of various sizes. I don't know if I should try to use them to build a short stone wall for a raised bed garden because I have no experience doing anything like that.

Preheat Your Soil for a Faster Harvest (Solarizing Soil)
By Ellen Brown
Many vegetables, like tomatoes, beans, squash and peppers need soil temperatures to reach nearly 70ºF before their growth can really take off. By solarizing your soil a month before you set out your warm-weather vegetables, you can fast forward your garden calendar and speed up your harvest by as much as two weeks!
