I have a coffee table that I would like to match my TV stand. It would require me to go from light wood to mahogany. If I'm going darker, do I have to strip the stain away completely? Or can I strip off the varnish and apply a darker stain?
I have a dining set from the 70s. It is dark. I wanted to brighten up my dining room and want to paint it. Do you do anything different when painting a table? For sanitary purposes? Is there something you put over the paint, like a top coat? I am on a tight budget! Thanks!
My grandmother passed away in Feb of this year and I have her old rocking chair, which was actually her mother's. I had to take off the cane bottom because it was all broken up. I would like to know how to put a seat bottom on it.
I inherited a dining room table and chairs. The chairs have cane backs that are starting to fall apart. I took one of the pieces of caning off and want to replace the caning with fabric and padding. Has anyone done this before and have any advise?
I have removed the smelly paper from the inside of an old trunk. What is the best way to finish the inside of the trunk now? Paint, wall paper, fabric?
Updated with More Photos: I have redone my antique dining chairs from caned seats to padded fabric seats without altering the cane part by cutting plywood seats that are slightly larger than the open area of the seats.
