Don't throw out those small pieces of fabric that are leftover from other projects. Save them for new projects, such as this cute pencil holder made from a tin can.
This is a simple, very inexpensive project that you can make for your own front door, but also makes a great Mother's Day gift for a mom or grandmother.
Make your own bookmarks as inexpensive gifts using things found around the house. Cut one piece of paper into a 2 inch square. Stamp design onto this paper or stick sticker onto this paper.
Purchase tiles of any shape or size to fit your decor. Purchase packs of cork, or rubber self sticking pads. Put the pads on the bottom of the tile and you have instant trivets/hotpads.
Kids of all ages love making Mother's Day cards. Even if you're working with a large group of kids, this activity costs next to nothing and is lots of fun.

Here's a great craft for Mother's Day. I made these for the mothers in our church. First water down the Elmer's glue in a small container. With your paintbrush "paint" the watered down glue inside the communion cup.
Here's a Mother's day craft we did at church this year with the younger kids. It's very easy to do and inexpensive. Write the letters M O M on your construction paper. You could also use copy paper and run it through a copier.
