I have a gazillion pictures of my family and have been storing them in boxes and suitcases. I am contemplating using my hanging space bags (the plastic bags that you vacuum out the air)l Using picture albums would not be very thrifty and I already have things stored under my beds.
Well, I was reading all the different ways to use old shoe boxes and thought of one myself. I have collected all these shoe boxes because I just can't see throwing out a perfectly good box that could be used for many other things.
I came up with a great way to spruce up old photo albums! I took the photo album and used old tissue paper and regular craft glue and applied glue with my finger and put tissue paper over it in different designs.
What is the best way to preserve old photos? I have a heap of photographs which are over 25 to 30 years old which has recently shown signs of deterioration. How can I stop this process? These photos had been placed in albums. Is there any powder or something else which can be spread on the photos to prevent further deterioration?
You can extend the life of film by storing it in the refrigerator. Before storing film, be sure to put it in a zip lock freezer bag and squeeze all the air out before sealing. Let the film warm to room temperature before using it. Try to avoid letting the film warm and cool several times since this can cause condensation.
I have lots of wallet size photos from my own kids school photos and also photos of my friends kids. I use them as book (and magazine or cookbook) markers...
Some of us Grandmas still have old magnetic photo albums and I've found that many photos have now stuck to the pages. A good way to remove these without ruining them is to slide a piece of dental floss behind the photo to release it from the page... it works!
