Leaving Crockpots on When You Aren't at Home
Do you leave your crockpot on while you are at work all day? I'll be gone about 9 1/2 hours and something about leaving it on that long bothers me.

Cooking Ground Beef in a Crockpot
Does anyone know if it's possible to cook ground beef in a crockpot? To save time and money I usually buy large packs of ground beef, cook it up, add seasonings, and then put single-dinner amounts into freezer bags.

Better Heat Distribution for Your Stock Pot
Better Heat Distribution for Your Stock Pot Tip. I like to cook large batches of stews, chili, soup, etc. to eat, freeze, or give to friends. For this I use a large stock pot. When I decided to buy one years ago (stainless steel; I'll settle for nothing less) I discovered they were all very expensive or very thin. . .

Crockpot Stew Meat Is Dry
It happened again. I made a stew in the crockpot (cooked it 12 hours) and the meat seems dry, yet it was immersed in liquid while cooking. What did I do wrong?

Ralto Autoshift Crockpot Advice
I just bought a used slowcooker. It's a Ralto Autoshift Crockpot. The button has only 2 choices - "hot" and "autoshift". Who can tell me what to do with a recipe that says cook on "low" for 6-8 hrs? How does this autoshift feature work? Any help would be much appreciated.

Recipe for Chili - Cook While You Work
The only ingredient not pictured is green onion. The medium hot salsa gave it a nice flavor. I like dumping the ingredients in the crock pot before heading to work, setting the heat to low, adding chopped Kielbasa and onion when I get home, giving it another hour or so to heat, then enjoying my "home made" chili with crackers and a beer.
