Drying Figs in the Microwave
Each year I have about 70 kilos of figs from my tree. Fresh ripe figs don't have a long life, maybe a couple of days. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to dry figs in a microwave. I don't have an oven and each time I have tried to sundry them, all the wildlife in the area think it's their birthday! I don't have the time to sit shotgun all day. Please help!

Dehydrating Fruits And Vegetables
The next time you go to the grocery store and they are having a great sale or your garden is overproducing, try my friend Amy's trick for easy winter soups. It seems like every time lately that I wanted to make a soup or stew, I was out of two very important soup ingredients, carrots and celery.

Drying Extra Cilantro
When I make salsa, I use half a bunch of cilantro. For a while, I would just let the extra go bad in my fridge (BAD IDEA). Then I realized that I can easily dry out the remaining cilantro and use it that way!

I have a dehydrator that I haven't really figured out yet. Does anyone have any tried and true recipes they wouldn't mind sharing? I would love to get snack type recipes to make for our 5 kids and anything else you'd care to share.

Drying Fruit and Meat Without a Dehydrator
Does anyone know how to dehydrate fruit (especially plums to make prunes) without a dehydrator? We are dry here until mid-october at least! Is there another way for jerky, too?

Drying Peppers
I'm from the south and this was new to me, here you learn to eat Mexican food. Hatch is the most popular place for growing chili peppers. While driving through Hatch one day we took this picture of a way they dry the peppers by putting them on the roof.

Drying Beans On The Vine
To vine dry beans (navy, kidney, butter, great northern, lima, lentils and soybeans) leave bean pods on the vine until the beans inside rattle. When the vines and pods are dry and shriveled, pick the beans and shell them. No pretreatment is necessary.
