Pickling Okra
I tried the recipe that was posted earlier this month on freezer pickled veggies. Most of them turned out great, but my okra got slimy. Any ideas on how to prevent this?

Cooking "Salad Beans"
Oh my goodness, since discovering salad beans just a week ago and having used up my packet, I am now craving them again. Next time I'll get two or three bags. (1 pound each in Asda supermarket). I bought them because they looked nice.

Add a ham hock to the pot when cooking beans and peas. This brings so much flavor; whether it is fresh vegetables or frozen.

Freeze Extra Veggies for Later
When you have leftover fresh carrots, celery and others veggies from parties or maybe are just sick of eating them before they'll spoil, try this. Chop them up, give them a quick dip in boiling water and vacuum seal them.

Ripening Tomatoes
Ripen homegrown tomatoes on a rubber shelf liner. We bought our house 2 years ago and the woman that lived here before me left her rubber shelf liners. I hated the stuff, but also hated to throw it away. I came up with this idea.

Garden: Fresh Salad Bowl
What could be better than a Fresh Salad Bowl? I use a low ceramic bowl, plant a variety of lettuces and herbs each spring. Throughout the summer I go out to my Salad Bowl and pick fresh greens for dinner. It makes a great centerpiece for the outdoor patio table as well.
