Decorating With the Color Red

I am moving to a new apartment and buying new furniture. I like red so I was thinking that I should buy a red sofa. But at the same time I like red walls. So now I am debating which one I should go with. Is there a way to have a red wall and a red sofa, or is that too much? What colors on the wall go well with a red sofa, and vice versa?
