Craft Project: Halloween Bucket

Halloween Bucket
Halloween Bucket
This is a recycled coffee can that you could use for your Halloween candy or just for a decoration.

Supplies:

  • Coffee Can (or other large can)
  • Canvas Fabric
  • Craft Glue
  • Craft Paints
  • Stiff Black Wire
  • Raffia
  • Black Felt
  • Wire Cutters
  • Needle nose Pliers
  • Metal Punch or Nail
  • Black tissue paper

Instructions:

Cut a paper pattern the size of the sides of the coffee can. Lay this on the canvas and cut out allowing for about a 1 inch overlap on all sides.

Paint your "pumpkin" on the canvas. Add leaves and curly vines.

Spread glue over the entire can. Lay the canvas piece on the can and press down to stick. Overlap the ends on top of each other. Apply glue about an inch down on the inside lip. Fold the top over into the inside of the can. Spread glue on the bottom of the can about an inch from the outside edge. Press the edges of the canvas onto the bottom of the can.

Optional: Wrap a piece of the wire around the outside edge of the top of the can. Twist to secure.

Working from the inside, punch two holes on each side of the can with the metal punch or a nail. This is easier if you lay the can on a piece of wood. You'll want these holes on top of each other about 1/2 inches apart.

Cut a piece of wire about 24 inches long. Find the middle and wrap coils around a pencil. Remove pencil.

Working from the outside, feed one end of the wire through one of the top holes and feeding it back out to the outside through the bottom hole. Using pliers, bend the loop together to close. Repeat on other side.

Tie raffia onto wire.

Tear tissue paper into chunks and glue to inside of can until fully covered.

Cut a piece of black felt and glue to bottom of can.
