Theme Ideas for a Co-Ed Birthday Party

I am having a co-ed birthday party in February. I need help picking a theme that won't destroy my social status (thanks to the harsh and hypocritical words my immature friends will most likely spread on the school campus). I was wondering if I should do a 40's theme, a Pretty In Pink theme or some other one. Please comment and suggest!
