Surprise Birthday Party Ideas

Does anyone have any ideas on food for a 40 year old's surprise birthday party? We have the hall (local VFW hall) and decorations but food seems to be our problem. The birthday boy is the Head Football Coach at our local high school, so there will be a lot of males at this surprise party. We want to feed them but also NOT break the bank. The hall doesn't have a kitchen.

Also, we can not bring in alcohol, the hall will offer a cash bar. Would it be to tacky If we buy one keg then let them buy more if they want? No we are not serving drinks to any players. So. it's the food.
