Create Display Shelves Above Windows
Some time ago someone posted an idea to use shelves over windows. I had commented that I did the same thing only I used wooden door gingerbread trim to make the side brackets so that I could hang my curtain rods through them.
Someone contacted me and asked me to post a picture. I used basic wooden shelving and trimmed the edges with rope molding.

Tyson (American Staffordshire Terrier)
Tyson is a 5 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. Some women left him in a parking lot when he was very very young. I took him to the vet right away and had to bottle feed him for about 2 months! He is like my baby! He likes to play, sleep and loves to eat!

Hanging Clothes in a Wire Rack Closet
When hanging my clothes in my closet on the wire rack, instead of hanging them on the bottom bar where the clothes get all scrunched up together, I hang them on the top bar, placing one hanger in the space between each of the cross bars. This keeps them separated just enough so they don't get scrunched, and therefore keeping the clothes from getting wrinkled. When I take something off the hanger, I hang the empty hanger on the bottom shelf toward the front of the closet.
Every few days I take all the empty hangers and transfer them to the laundry room to be handy when I'm taking clothes out of the dryer.

Chalk to Prevent Tarnish on Jewelery
To save any of your jewelery from tarnishing, pop a length of chalk inside your jewelery box. I have no idea how this works but it does! So if you buy a box full of chalk, give a stick each to your girlfriends and female relatives for their jewelery! A simple thrifty tip that you can share.

Use Vaseline for Young Looking Skin
I have a friend who uses Vaseline on her face every night and has for many years, and she has very young looking skin. I'm trying that Moisture Therapy Intensive hand cream on my face and it seems to work. It's from Avon. I've heard also that some famous people also use Vaseline on their faces. Anything to ward off wrinkles is great!

Fresh Mint for Air Freshener
I use fresh mint from my overgrown mint patch for air freshener. I gather a small handful and crush it up a bit, put a couple of bread ties or rubber band around it and hang it from the light fixture of the ceiling fan. I also put one hanging in front of the box fan. It leaves a really great smell, free and green.

Discolored Stainless Steel Pans
I find that using liquid bleach on the inside of my stainless steel pans removes tea stains immediately. You can add a little water if you'd like, but I just pour a small amount in the pan, swirl it around and dump it into the next pan with the stains and works great. I rinse the clean pan immediately so the bleaching will stop right away.

Shop Holiday Clearances All Year Round
Here is a tip that you can use following ANY holiday, stock UP! If you use paper plates and napkins, now is the time to stock up on those outdated, never to be used again graduation plates, napkins and paper cups. I purchase these for as little as 25 cents a package and use for a BBQ at the lake or tailgating in the fall.
Since we are going to throw them away any how, who cares if they are outdated. Stock up for next year's school party after Valentines or Easter. Put a festive napkin in your lunchbox to brighten your day around the holidays. Even paper table cloths make great wrapping paper for large, hard to wrap gift items (think bicycle or laundry baskets).
It's also time to purchase those expensive (NON-DATED) Graduation gifts for use in the coming year or two. Stock up on books, picture frames and the like. You will save up to 80% and these items store beautifully! Just be sure to place your treasures in a container that will keep them free from dust and wear and tear. I put mine in a lidded tub that fits under the bed.
Happy Saving!

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day
An annoyingly self-righteous man went to the doctor for a
check-up. He said, "I feel terrible. Please examine me and tell
me what is wrong."
"Let's begin with a few questions," said the doctor, "Do you
drink much?"
"Alcohol?" said the man. "I'm a teetotaler. Never touch a drop."
"How about smoking?" asked the doctor.
"Never," replied the man. "Tobacco is bad, and I have strong
principles against it."
"Well, uh." asked the doctor, "do you have much sex life?"
"Oh, no," said the man. "Sex is sin. I'm in bed by 10:30 every
night and I always have been."
The doctor paused, looked at the man hard, and asked, "Well, do
you have pains in your head?"
"Yes," said the man. "I have terrible pains in my head."
"O.K.," said the doctor. "That's your trouble. Your halo is on
too tight!!"

Pool Maintenance
We purchased a house with an in-ground pool. We had a large hole in the light niche fixed, but we are still seeing some water loss. What can be expected as far as normal evaporation? This is a 19000 gallon round pool, and the temps have been in the mid 80s. We lost 1/2 inch in two days.
Also, I found a product online that when poured into the pool, can fix cracks up to 1/8 inch in the vinyl or plumbing. Does this really work without clogging up the filtering system?
