I bought new converse low tops and the heel squeeked so bad! I wore different socks today and the squeek was even worse and I was embarrassed to walk around the office this way. After looking up online what to do I found this site and all I had here in my desk we some lotion and Tom's naturual deodorant (lemon grass scent :) so I decided to try that, I rubbed it all on the inside of my shoe - the sole and the heel mostly and the sqeeking is completely gone! WOOHOO! ...oh and they smell good too hehe

I was skeptical of the methods described but I tried the folded paper towel in between sole and insole. Lo and Behold the squeak is gone! Thanks so much for this valuable tip!

This worked for me I put water inside of the sneaker that squeaked but I put it under the foot thing, and it worked. Trust me.

Thanks everyone for the hints. I have New Balance running shoes that squeaked and I put the paper towels under the insert and it worked. I thought it was a crazy idea but now I'm a believer.

WOW. This reading just saved me $100 on basketball shoes. I was ready to try and cut the squeaky outside sole off my shoe and gorilla glue it back on.
I wd40'd it and that worked for a few steps so I added some gold bond and am absolutely amazed at the results. What seemed unlikely 10 minutes ago is now common sense in my book. Thank you!

Bought nice pair of dress shoes and they started to squeak. Store told me try talc powder. It worked for about 5 minutes. Tried paper towel. So far so good!

I have New Balance shoes where the soles of the shoes are what squeak. They squeak on the floors at work and in malls but no where else. Ay suggestions on how to stop it, other than tossing the shoes? Just about every pair I have bought do this.

As a teenage athlete we go through a lot of shoes for sports and all. But well i had a pair or air max running shoes and about a month after my purchase or them they starter to squeak and a friend told me "put a piece of folded paper towel under the insole of the shoe" and the next day they didn't squeak. So someone could try that.

I picked up a pair of 100 dollar Timberlands and they started to squeak about a week into wearing them. At first I thought the ideas here were going to be crazy but I tried the tissue paper folded between the insole and sole...that worked like a charm. 3 Cheers for google / forums.

My tennis shoes have squeaked for quite awhile now and I finally decided to see if I could find any info on the internet about 'squeaking shoes'. I found this site with lots of good info, but since I was at work I could only try the tissue in the shoes. I put a folded paper towel between the insoles and soles and the squeak is no more! Hi. I just got my pair of Short Ultimate Uggs in the mail to find out that the right one was squeaking loudly. I found out that a squeak is caused by a gap between the insole and the sole of the shoe. I removed the insole, and on the part that was squeaking, I folded up a tisue, and taped it onto the back of the insole. I put it back into the shoe and TADDAA! IT WORKED! The squeak is gone! For now anyways ;]

So far I have tried WD40 and baby powder. Neither of these worked. I need to find a remedy. These shoes are work shoes and I am an RN. These are $90.00 Supernova Addidas's newly purchased. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Oh, the squeak is only coming from outside sole of the left shoe and it is a wretched squeak. Makes me want to hurl them into the garbage ben, but I am trying to be patient.

Alright, I had to buy Black rubber soled leather shoes for work, and they will NOT stop squeaking. But its whenever i walk, its the outside that squeaks.. any suggestions?

Agree that Googling is the best way to find tips! Tried the hand cream (squishing around the inside seams and outside) and so far, no squeaks! I was ready to toss the shoes!

I purchased a pair of Donald J Pliner $200 mules on sale which means I can't return them. I cannot wear them either as they SQUEAK......any ideas, they are black so no place to powder.

I have a pair of A$158 very thin strapped Italian leather sandals. There is no "inside" to powder. I can't imagine staying in them if I use VO5 or any other lubricant all over them. What else have you got?

I had squeaky rubber-soled sneakers, and was entirely skeptical about the baby powder solution, but curious enough to go down to Walgreen's and buy a 99 cent jar of it. So, I powdered it all over the inside... lo and behold, it freakin' worked!!! Thanks guys!

i I put mine in the dryer for about 10-15 minutes, and that seemed to do the trick to stop the squeak.

One manufacturer suggests working talcum powder into the area that squeaks. Try to work it in as much as possible, especially in the noisy area.

Call the store where you bought them--if they can't help, they can give you the number of the company who made them. For that amt.of money, you should get results!

Put baby powder inside your shoes. Soon the squeaking will stop!

I have heard that if you put vasoline or some type of liquid oil on the areas that rub together that it will stop the squeaking.
You will need to reapply the the gel or oil again when the squeaking starts again.
