(Post on 2001-03-26) I would love ideas for my daughters 2 yr old little birthday party!! She will be 2 in May and we don't have any family that lives near us. She had a small first birthday party and although I'm not planning on giving her a huge 2nd birthday party would love some easy yet classy ideas. I'm a beginner at this stuff so make the ideas easy!! Thanks!:) - Dionna

PRINCESS! hello there,i have a daughter who will be 2 also in july. One idea is that you can do a princess theme. You can make her a chair(paint a royal theme on bristol/cardboard and tape it to the chair for her to sit in,give all the little girls some princess things like crowns, fake nice jewellry and things like that. And where there wont be as many people all the more nice you can make it.
Well i hope this was a little bit of help for you.

I am also going to be celebrating my two year old daughters birthday. It will be very simple. two to three children. Since it is warm in california I will purchase a small wading pool to play in. Since two years don't understand the concept of games we will have and paint boards up so they can finger paint with whip cream. it is easy on the eyes and if they put in there mouths it won't hurt. The kids will go home with some bath toys and buckets since summer is coming. Finger foods to eat and easy on you. Simple decorations will make the kids happy. Just relax you will never get this moment back.

My 2 yr old daughters party is this weekend. I am doing the Seasame Street theme. She loves Elmo so I bought a t-shirt with Elmo on the front for her to wear. The kids from daycare are invited. I will have pin the nose on Elmo and put the cookie in Cookie monsters hand, games I made for the party. I will also give them coloring sheets of Elmo and Cookie Monster. Both of these ideas came from computer program of mine. I hope this gives you some ideas too.

Well my son's second birthday is in march. I have a winnie the pooh theme in mind, I am looking around for a pooh shaped cake (if I can't get that I will just get a regular pooh cake from albertson's).
I will get balloons with pooh on them and will put pooh posters on the walls. I am also thinking of painting the kids' faces with pooh and friends.

A great way for the kids to remember the party & have fun making the memories is this...get water colors, construction paper & the kids hands. Paint the palms of the kids hands..one kiddo at a time of course & have them put their handprints on the construction paper. You can write their name with glue & glitter, crayon or marker. You can outline the handprint with glue & let the kiddos do the glitter too!

My daughter will be turning two at the end of january and the only game i have came up with is wack wrap how you play this game is get a gift that boy or girl can play with( Ex playdoe, bubbles) and wrap it i say 15-30 times and let the kids pass it in a circle until the gift is unwrapped who ever unwraps the gift wins but remember you need music the person controlling the music should have there back toward the crowd and not be able to see the children so that its a fair game

I too have a daughter who is about to turn 2 and have been stumped on what to do for her party. We don't know many people with kids her age, but there are quite a few children in the family. We decided to reserve a shelter at the local park and have a simple party for her. We are just having cake and chips, the kids can play (we don't have to worry about taking toys from home), and we also don't have a huge mess to clean up afterwards.

Here's some great cheap, healthy, and simple party ideas for your lil one:
"smelly" play dough recipe: 1 cup each salt, flour, and water. Two Tbl. creme of tartar, one pack colored kool-aid. Mix and cook on low heat until ball forms. Knead until smooth.
Knox-blox fruit jigglers for treats or spoon races. Pudding finger painting on butcher paper.

I have a daughter who's turning 2 7/26/04 and I did the Strawberry Shortcake theme. They have cute braclette's and sunglasses and stickers, which my daughter loves. Instead of a big cake we are making Straberry flavor cup cakes w/strawberry icing.

I also have a friend who had a girl and her 2nd bday party was the finding Nemo theme. She went and bought tons of gold fish w/$25 fish bowls and had sand pails full of goodies like bubbles, bouncing balls, playdo, sunglasses.""

RE: Request: Two Year Old Birthday Ideas

My son is turning two in a couple of weeks and in an effort to celebrate his birthday yet keep it simple, my husband and I brainstormed for ideas that Joshua (our son) would enjoy. He loves bubbles so that is a must and we are also doing a balloon drop. You can purchase the drop bags from any party supply store for about $7.00 and fill with small 6-8" balloons. He is going to love it I just know it! He also doesn't care much for cake but loves ice cream and cookies and Elmo from Sesame Street so we are doing an "Elmo's Ultimate Ice Cream Bar" party where the guests can make their own sundaes and I am ordering a large Elmo decorated chocolate chip cookie from Mrs. Field's rather than have a cake. Hope these ideas help some of you!

I am in the same situation. My daugher is turning 2 in June and we have no family or friends yet since our move four months ago. I plan on bringing cupcakes to daycare, with some balloons, and little bubble party favors for the kids in her room. This way she gets to celebrate with the children she feels comfortable with and gets a party too!

RE: Request: Two Year Old Birthday Ideas

Oh, one more idea: if you live in an area that's already very warm (like here in NM where I am), you could try a "swim" party where the feature is a lawn sprinkler. Just make sure that wherever you do it, the surface should be not-slippery when wet (a lawn, a rough concrete surface, etc.). The kids don't even have to be in swimsuits.

Watering your lawn while the kids have fun at the same time is frugal, right? :-)

RE: Request: Two Year Old Birthday Ideas

I agree with the previous poster that your daughter won't really "get" most of what's going on, so I wouldn't try for too much. If you're planning to invite some of her similar-age friends over, some things that my son enjoyed at that age were sidewalk chalks and soap bubbles. We have a concrete patio in back that the kids loved "messing up" with chalks! Chalks and bubbles are both inexpensive, and will give the kids some things to do. Also, just a suggestion to keep the party relatively short!

RE: Request: Two Year Old Birthday Ideas

Because two year olds usually don't understand much about birthdays and you have no family around, I'd recommend having a simple party with the normal birthday trappings.

Get some colorful balloons, have a small cake (or cup cake) that she can destroy, put some candles on it so she can learn about blowing them out, lots of presents (they mostly enjoy unwrapping them more than anything so you could just wrap up some of their old toys), make sure you have a camera to take pictures to share with the family. Sing "Happy Birthday" to her and let her know it is her special day.

If you plan on inviting friends or friends with little ones, make sure you have a few party favors for the little ones. Just make sure they are child safe. Many cheap favors could be dangerous for the 3 and under set. It is hard to organize much in the way of games for toddlers, they like to do their own thing. Maybe just bring out some toys and let them play. If it is nice weather, you could let them run around the yard. If you are inviting toddlers, however, make sure that their parents are also present.

Just a few ideas.
Susan
