Cleaning Resin Chairs

bought four white resin chairs at a yard sale. They are nice and sturdy, but when I started using them I found that a white chalk like film rubs off them onto my hands and clothing. Does anybody know of a way to stop this? Thanks!

RE: Cleaning Resin Chairs

I just tried the suggestion of using straight bleach and my 4 chairs were completely clean in just 10 minutes!! These had black spots for 3 years, I can't believe I didn't check here sooner!! Thank you so much!!!!

I used Barkeepers Friend and elbow grease. It worked well, removing almost all stains. I did hose off several times and dried with an old terry towel. They will need to be wiped off again to remove excess residual white powder from cleaner.

If you power wash them it removes the powdery film that accumulates on the chairs.

I had the same grey-black speckle-spots on my white resin pation furniture. I used elbow grease and soft scrub - but wore my arm out scrubbing, so I got out a paintbrush and applied straight bleach. Fast, easy and cheap! It worked like a charm.

I spray painted some resin flower boxes with paint for plastic. Several companies have it now in a variety of colors. I would recommend Krylon brand because it does not drip.

I also had the same problem. Found the chairs had been painted, which after a time left the chalk, had to redo. found the above suggestions helpful.

RE: Cleaning Resin Chairs

I waxed the old resin chair I found that was powdery & it seemed to help. Also there are good spray paints out there now for resin/plastic. Flat surfaces, like tables, you can cover with contact paper.
