Getting Onion Smell Off HandsBy Linda M. Feedback About This Post:RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsSimply add salt to wet hands and rinse off in running water. Post by wandathome RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsI learned the stainless steel trick years ago. It works! I just soap my hands and run them back and forth over the sink a bit. And as Merry50 mentioned, you can buy a stainless bar of "soap" if you don't have a stainless steel sink. Post by Lynn RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsI found that cutting celery after the onion removes the smell completely. You can add the celery to whatever dish you are making or just eat it. Post by zynfandel RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsRun your hands and fingers over your stainless steel sink if you have one - you can buy a block of stainless steel "soap" which is a soap shaped piece of stainless steel you use as if it were soap and it removes all sorts of nasty smells. I think you can get them at hardward stores. Post by merry50 RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsDoes anyone know if a little mouthwash would work? Post by melody_yesterday RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsUsed coffee grounds do the trick. Works for fish, garlic and other odors. Just scoop some into your hands and rub then rinse. Post by GraNita RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsLemon juice works too. Post by Deeli RE: Getting Onion Smell Off HandsJust run your hands under cold running water while using a stainless steel spoon at the same time and wipe the spoon and running water all over your hands where the smell is. works like a charm.
