Hi, We have had to have the repairman here three times to try to fix the excessive shaking. The machine (on the expensive drawer0 moved all over the floor. After three repairs, it still shakes excessively. What a piece of junk!

I've tried to no availe to get in touch with Bosch since we bought our washer & dryer in 2005. I can't wait for it to die! It not only has constant mold problems, but it's staining my clothes now! I wish there was a class action suit against them, I'd participate!

Not only does the unit smell, but sometimes it doesn't drain all the water! The cycles are much longer than in the Frigidaire we had before, capacity similar, no difference in noise level yet much more expensive! I am disappointed I bought it, based on the wrong (again) recommendation from Consumer Report! Should have bought one of the US based front loaders for less money! Bosch should recall their front loaders because of poor quality and design! I do however recommend their dish washer! Quiet and well built.

Just keep the door open for 1 day after use and dry the rubber gasket. It will keep the problem from starting in the first place. I love my washer!

I am having the same problems. I purchased a Bosch Nexxt 500 Plus front-loading washing machine less than 1 year ago. There are already two rivets in the front panel with large cracks sprawling across the front of my washer. The washer also started to smell so I'm now leaving the front door open and wiping the seal after every wash. This thing is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. These washers should be RECALLED and replaced by Bosch! What a waste of money.

We had multiple quality problems with Bosch washing machine and Bosch dishwasher. Not only that the product quality is really bad, we also have experienced problems with the service. Arrogance, delays and lack of response is common for Bosch service.
I do not recommend Bosch appliance and their brand name appliance Thermador, which is basically similar Bosch products with upscale packaging.

I have just discovered why my bosch WFO2464 Exxcel 1200 spin washer is stinking my kitchen out. It has nothing to do with the washer. Other then the pump being very good at doing it's job.
The problem is with badly installed plumbing.
My kitchen sink drains through a a U bend into the main waste soil pipe down to the sewer. When my washer drains on rinse cycle it does so with such speed that it blows out the water filling the U bend thus leaving a straight air path down to the main sewer. Putting the plug in the sink doesn't help because of the overflow at the top of the sink.
The sink would also stink if the house was left empty long enough for the U bend to dry out through evaporation.
The plumbing should really drain into an external and open box drain before descending to the sewer. There should not have been a closed pipe straight from sewer to sink. I may try an anti syphon bottle trap in the short term.
I would hate to see Bosch maligned for something they are not guilty of. Washers with less powerful pumps should not get the credit for fixing the problem.

Hi, I too had problems with a mold smell with my Bosch axxis washer. I contacted the company and they recommend a product called "washer magic". I Googled the product, and it's website said where to find it in my area. I used it (you empty the bottle in and run the wash on hot with no clothes in the washer) and it worked very well at removing the odor.

I am all for a class action lawsuit. I have spent almost $900 in repairs over 4 years and the latest is that I have the problem of gunk (smells like crap - literally) buildup. If I had not seen it for myself, I would not have believed what came out of the drainage hose and the back of the washer. It looked like a sewer line. I had thought it was a clog in our pipes. No - the washer hoses were almost completely clogged. Our plumber was shocked and said part of the problem is that the inside of the hose is ribbed, which will catch particles and cause buildup.
I am contacting Bosch and referencing these emails. Thank you for your input. I now feel like I have some ammo when I speak to Bosch.

Wow! I am shocked and relieved to see these posts. I have also had nothing but trouble with my high end Bosch washer. The rim on the door has broken three times and fixing it at my expense now totals $500. But the smell is unbearable. At first I thought a dead rodent crawled inside and died. Good grief! So glad to see these posts. I'd be up for a class action suit just for an upgraded machine or refund. Post here if interested...

I bought my Bosch washer and dryer about four years ago, and yesterday (for the second time) Bosch replaced the "boot" - which is the gasket due to mold problems. This was done at no cost to me, even though my machine has been out of warranty for 2 years.
Someone at the repair service told me I should wipe down the boot after each use - not going to happen! She also told the moldy gasket and smelly machine are a problem for most front loaders, not just the Bosch.
Lately I have used a very small amount of HE detergent, along with baking soda and borax to wash my clothes in. I still use fabric softener, but not very much. (My family bicycles, and I use vinegar for the final rinse on these loads, since fabric softener eliminates the "wicking" ability of our bike clothes, and the vinegar acts as a disinfectant.)
I have washed a towel with cascade dish detergent on HOT - this really helped with the odor. I got AFFRESH today at Home Depot and am curious to see how that works - noticed that the AFFRESH and Cascade both have sodium carbonate in them, and the Cascade is much cheaper than the AFFRESH.
I figure if I can get a couple more years out of this machine, great - then I'll replace it with a top loader.
So, to everyone who is having the stinky problems and mold problems I have had, I would like to suggest you get in touch with Bosch - perhaps they will fix/repair at no charge for you, also.

We have been ripped off
This is by far the worst product ever.
I spent 2.5X as much to buy a Bosch Front Loader.
WORST EVER!
Control board went bad in 1st 8 months.
Has smelled since 1st couple of months.
Started smelling like inorganic bacteria/poo.
Took entire thing apart, except the tub.
Every hose was full of grey smelly sludge.
Cleaned all of it.
Didn't smell for a while and eventually it started slowly coming back.
Had the thing for 2yrs+ and I am taking it out and shooting it.
Bought a new washing machine, done with this high priced POS.
We need to get a class action lawsuit started.
This isnt right.

I have read numerous websites on this issue and I called Bosch today to see if they can enlighten me on how to wash my clothes so they do not smell (this is the third time I am calling in 1 year and this person actually sounded like she knew what she was talking about, we will see).
CLEAN YOUR CLOTHES: Use only 1 Tablespoon of HE detergent. Ignore what the HE detergent says and only use 1 tablespoon. She said you can use stain removers and fabric softener as usual--dilute the fabric softener before you put it in the chamber.
CLEAN YOUR WASHER: Use Affresh or Washer Magic every 3 months. Bosch says this is critical to keeping the smell and gunk out of the machine. Bleach is a temporary solution and only covers up the smell. According to Bosch, Affresh or WM will help get rid of the buildup behind the drum.

I bought a Bosch because I loved the dishwasher but this has been the worst product I have ever purchased. It has turned me off on all front loaders. I even had mold forming on the gasket. I just today purchased a new top loader and I am getting rid of this 2 year old piece of junk.

The real solution is to find a friend, load the washer into a pickup truck and drive it to the dump. If stink is the only problem you are having with this hunk of crap, you are fortunate.

Go to my 3 cents to review bosch appliances, our washer always smells because of the boot seal gasket. I have all Bosch appliances and they are nothing but first class junk, they should stick to their automotive parts

Helen -- I also have the smell problem with towels, and the excessive shaking curing the spin cycle. Are you saying that the amount of detergent has an effect on the excessive shaking in the spin cycle? And is the purpose of the vinegar to be used as a water softener or fabric softener? Is the mixture of Borax, baking soda, etc. used WITH your clothes, or duing an empty cleaning cycle? Thanks!

Not only did my Bosch washer smell bad, some of my clothes, especially towels, were starting to reek too. I did a lot of research online on various sites and found this one to be the most helpful. I basically combined several suggestions and I am happy to report that my smell is gone, my clothes smell fresher and the washer does not vibrate anymore during the spin cycle (an added bonus that I did not anticipate. Here is what I did: I only use 1-2 tablespoons of HE detergent per load along with 1/2 cup Borax and about 1/4 cup baking soda. I fill the softener dispenser with white vinegar to the line. I do NOT use softener or dryer sheets anymore.
My clothes immediately started smelling cleaner and felt softer and amazingly, there is only a hint of vinegar smell, sometimes none. I then bought Purewasher via the internet and followed the directions exactly. I did not use the washer for 3 days. I left the door ajar. After 3 days, the smell was completely gone! The window was covered with gunk which I cleaned off. I then scrubbed the rubber gasket both on the outside and on as much of the inside as I could reach. There was a lot of gunk in there. The white vinegar is an amazing softener and so much more environmentally friendly. I just wish I would have known this when I bought the unit so that I could have done this from the beginning. You mentioned your eyes watering when you open the door. Are you keeping it closed when not in use? Front-loading washers are air tight. Keeping the door close is what is causing the mildew to grow. You need to leave the door open all the time. If your machine is in really bad shape you need to let all the washing machine cleaners soak overnight. My machine had that nasty musty smell and soaking was the key. I know other people that have had their door seals replaced because the must smell permeated the rubber. I hope all this helps.

I bought my bocsh washer in Aug of 05. In august of 06 I requested for repair of the the control panel. The crack was slight but the panel was replaced. In August of 07, I saw another crack similar to the first one.
I was about to request a repair again, when my daughter became very ill and I was called away to tend to her needs. When I returned, in Thanksgiving, the small crack had enlarged and now there were cracks in other parts of the control panel.
I now have a 2 year (and a couple of months) old washer with erratic cracks on the panel. I suspect a fault in the material used for panel. I think it is a problem in manufacture.
I called for repair and suspected that I would have to pay at least the service charge. I not only have to pay service charge but I have to pay a total of 489 dollars for parts plus labor.
I need some help knowing where to go to get help. No 2 year appliance falls apart like this. I am paying just under the cost of the machine for a replacement of the part. Please help.

Okay! I've tried bleach and vinegar and they didn't work.
Then I tried Affresh (three times) still no luck! I tried Washer Magic and Washer Genie and the smell got stronger. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get rid of the washing machine smell! It's driving me crazy! My whole house smells like a basement!

I had/have the same issue with my Bosch. My wife got a product called Washer Genie at a trade show and it worked really well. Most importantly for us it didn't leave any residual ordor on my clothes. The people I bought it from said you can get it on Amazon.

I have the Bosch front load machine and it began to stink after about 4 months. Upon removing the service door I noticed a drain plug and when I removed it I clearly found the source. This is the lowest point in the drain and dirt and water sits in that area and begins to smell. I removed the plug, rinsed it out and the smell was gone. Certainly a problem but now about every 3 months I remove the plug, wash it out and no more problem. I am not a repair person but this worked for me.

I have had my bosch machine for almost seven years and only just noticed the start of a smell and occasional grey sludge on clothing. I use regular a product called "service it" which is good and now I use calgon tabs also good as the "service it" is not easy to find in shops. Try these products. Also I'm told run bleach in your machine on a 90 wash ?

I am most unhappy with my Bosch washing machine. It a classix one. It absolutely stinks and the rubber seal has gone all mildewy. I have had the engineer round who has cleaned out the bottle (which he said was full of gunk - never seen anything like it apparently). He said it's a design fault because the newer machines use hardly any water - low energy etc. and this bottle inside collects a load of muck which makes the machine smell! It doesn't smell as bad now. I run it on 90 (v environmentally friendly!) after every few washes, but it's still awful. I plan to get rid of it as soon as I can afford a new one!

hi i am really pleased to read the bosch problems because i have the same ones and i thought it was just me! i have done every thing baking soda, soda crystals, bleach, vinegar cleaning the pump, very hot wash the machine ,not using liquids and nothing helps the only thing that helps a bit is to use the extra rinse on every wash not very enviro

When you say to run vinegar through washing machine, what type of vinegar?
Editor's Note: I use distilled white vinegar for any kind of cleaning. Apple cider vinegar will also work but is usually more expensive.

one thing i noticed with my washing machine was if i closed the door as soon as i'd taken the wash out, i seemed to get a smell in the next wash, that disappeared as soon as i stopped closing the door. Don't know if it will help but try to make sure that the drum is airing out and not getting damp
