If you're tired of stained undies, leaks no matter how absorbent your pad or tampon are, overflowing trash, panic at a public restroom when you're unprepared, relax! This is the only menstrual cup I've ever used, so maybe I'm biased, but I've used plenty of tampons and pads. The diva cup is like a cell phone, how did I ever live without it?
I've been using mine for over half a year now, I've had 2 leaks. TWO. That's how many I had a day with a pad and tampon. Even on my heaviest day I can leave it in for an easy 8 hours, forgetting I'm even on my period. I jog on my elliptical and it doesn't even occur to me that it's that time of the month.
I can't say enough good things about the Diva Cup. I haven't placed one pad in a land fill or one tampon down the toilet for 6 months. I haven't had to buy either for 6 months. I haven't had to carry something in my purse for 6 months.
I did have issues with the stem at first, I eventually cut mine off past the recommended length, but I've had no problems once so ever. I also have a tipped cervix, but that hasn't been a problem either. It was a little tricky to put in at first, simply because it was such a foreign idea. One cup will also last for years!
Bottom line: saves me much more than I paid on tampons, liners and pads, extends the life of my undies, saves landfill space, helps the environment, saves me misery.

I have never tried the Diva Cup. But I just got The Keeper. I think it's based on the same thing. I don't know why these things weren't out years ago. I would have saved a lot of money.

I love my diva cup! I haven't been using it very long, but it has already saved me so much trouble. I couldn't even begin to describe it. Maybe someday I'll write a song about it.
Anyway, I bought mine off of www.iherb.com and it was less than $20 including s/h! Use the promo code ICO037 for $5 off for first time iherb users. The closest store to me that is selling them charges $49 for the diva cup! insane!

I'm happy it works so good for you, Amy!
However, I feel like I should mention, as a DivaCup user since over two years, that it's not all smooth sailing for everybody.
When I first started using the cup, my period was very heavy. So emptying it every eight hours? Forget it! I had to empty it every two hours. And it leaked and leaked and leaked...I always use pantyliners as backup on my heavy days.
Fast forward to now, when my period has gotten a lot lighter. Now the cup works soooo much better! It might leak once every period!
The bottom line is: if you know you are a heavy bleeder, be prepared to empty the cup often, and wear back up, like pads or liners. Most women do not bleed as much as I do, though.
For me, the savings on the environment and my economy, plus the convinience of using the cup, still has made it worth it!

I used a cup (different brand, though) for several months. My cramps (which are already bad and have been my entire life--I'm 35) got worse and so I had to stop using it. It is a very nifty device and very environmentally friendly. Too bad my body did not like it!! I read on a livejournal forum for cup users that many people have resolution or reduction of their cramps when using a cup, but this does not happen for everyone, as I discovered.

I bought a Mooncup & I love it! It cost £20, but I reckon I spend £1.50 a month on tampons so it should pay for itself in less than a year. I have found it very easy to use and in a strange way quite liberating.

Back in the 1970's I went to Planned Parenthood & had them fit me for a Diaphragm, not for birth control because I already had an IVD, but to use instead of tampons on my period. Well, then in the 90's they came out with something that looked just like a diaphragm only it was made of plastic instead of latex or rubber like diaphragms were. It's called "INSTEAD" & it looks exactly looks like a diaphragm. I've used one of these for over 15 years now. They're re-usable each month because they're made of plastic. I just wash it really well then run a bit of bleach over it before putting it away each month, then wash it again before I use it again. I'm going through "pre" menopause & have unbelievably heavy periods each month & this is the only thing that works. You can have sex with it in with no mess when you're on your period which is another bonus. (just put it in making sure it covers your cervix, then douche) But the thing I like the most is, it's reusable & it holds MUCH more than a tampon. You can even wear both this diaphragm thing AND a tampon AND a pad if need be... You can sometimes "dump" them by just pushing hard (like you're gong to the bathroom #2)... but usually you have to take it out part way... If you're not comfortable with your body, then this isn't for you... But if you are, You'll be happy, especially if you have heavy periods or if you want to have sex without any mess while on your period.
It's called "INSTEAD" and, even though the directions say to use a new one each time (like you would a tampon) I use the same one over & over for a year or more, Just be sure to rinse it off each day & bleach it each month after you're done... But if you can't find one, go to Birth Control clinic & ask them to fit you for a diaphragm. It's the exact same thing! (but don't use instead for birthcontrol!) This thing doesn't look a bit like the "Moon" cup... I think it fits much better... Because diaphragms are MADE to keep things out... So they're fitted better.
I swear by mine! ... I couldn't live without it!
