Burnt Ring From a Pan on My Kitchen Counter

Burnt Ring From a Pan on My Kitchen Counter
A hot pan was set down on the kitchen counter (I think it's acrylic) and part of the counter burned off onto the pan. The counter is patterned (kind of spackled), and now there are 3 places where it's been burned off. I need to fix this before the landlord tries to charge me big bucks. Help please!

ballonoff products

i am looking for a divider for the top of my stove in between the burners. the last one i had was by ballonoff home products.do they still exist? what is their address or web site?

Editor's Note: The only place I could find their products was on ebay. Look there and put Ballonoff in the search box. I didn't see what you are looking for but someone might have one for sale at some point.

RE: Burnt Ring From a Pan on My Kitchen Counter

I have a burn ring from a pan on my wood counter- the wood has a polyurethane coat I believe. Is there anything I can do to remove it or lessen it? The counter is a little darker than pine, and the burn is medium brown. Thanks.

Find a reputatable handy man to cut out a substantial area and replace with a cutting board type of wood or acrylic. It may be cheaper than your landlord charging you for a whole counter and it looks great and it's handy having a cutting board built into the counter.

RE: Burnt Ring From a Pan on My Kitchen Counter

I have successfullly poured 3-in-1 oil over the burn area and scrubed with plastic scrubers. I don't what else to call these scrubbers. They are not your ordinary kitchen scrubbers, but are available from harware stores and could be used in place of sandpaper. I used the fine grade ones.

This hint was told to me by a kitchen remodeler.

If it isn't a type of counter that can be sanded

If it is a formica top and not one of the newer ones that can be sanded out, how about getting 4 nice (or one large) ceramic tiles and gluing them to the spot as a permanent landing pad for warm dishes? You can get decorative tiles and they will look nice.

My parents did this years ago right next to their stove and it has worked really well, and nobody has any clue that there is a burnt patch there.
