Permanent Marker Stains on Clothing

I drew a red line with a permanent marker on a wool cap by mistake, how can I remove it safely?

Pour some rubbing alcohol in small bowl and dip stained part in alcohol, let soak a while. Remove with stained area hanging downward, squeeze over sink. Repeat and change alcohol if it has changed color and has pink in it.
