Salad Bar SavingsBy Bobbie G from Rockwall, TX Feedback About This Post:RE: Salad Bar Savings
here there is the option of buying canned greens like turnip greens & of course, spinich Post by melody_yesterday RE: Salad Bar SavingsMy husband and I go camping at a KOA with a supermarket within walking distance. We walk over there in the morning and get lunch and dinner ingredients. We get chopped veggies, shredded cheese, dressing for dipping, vinaigrette for marinades, precooked chicken for quick tacos, crab salad for sandwiches, etc, right off of the salad bar. Nothing more than what we need with no waste or prep... Prewashed spinach is $6.00 to $8.00 a pound here in Northern Indiana.... Post by thriftyboo RE: Salad Bar SavingsHi, Just wondering where do you live that spinach is 11.99 a pound? That is insane! Bagged organic spinach does not even cost that much (if one can find it) but the regular spinach is usually around 3.00 a pound and I am in NJ. Not a cheap state at all. That would make me change my choice of greens big time. And I agree on the salad bars. I don't think the supermarket here has one ( I moved to another town last month) but I used to get them where I was for 4.99 a pound. It was great when I felt too lazy to make it or really just too broke to afford what I wanted. Post By T (Guest Post) RE: Salad Bar Savings
It may not be the most cost effective way, but many times I am cooking for 2 and we have a lot of waste. Post By Virginia (Guest Post) RE: Salad Bar SavingsWe only have one store in our town with a salad bar. The store's prices are high so I usually don't shop there but have on occasion stopped in specifically to fix up a tossed salad for dinner. You are right, you buy just what you need, no leftovers to go bad. I am sick of buying those bags of salad that don't last any time at all. I think they are so long in transit, that is why....but if I buy one of those bags and probably only use half before it turns all brown and mushy. Sometimes too I just buy a bag of the shredded lettuce as I love it for tacos, sandwiches and it's fine for salad too. Post by Debbie52 |
