RE: Replacing a Lawnmower Seal

Do you have the manual for your Techumseh gas lawnmower? This can often be helpful in repairing an item. There is a web site called The Lawn Mower Repair Man http://www.nevadawalrus.com/, which might be helpful. Also, Jacks Small Engines http://www.jackssmallengines.com/
says they have Techumseh Repair Manuals available. You might also want to try checking eBay, Yahoo and/or Amazon for the repair manual.

Hope this helps!

By the way, eBay has 26 items listed for “Tecumseh (not Techumseh, as you have it spelled) repair manual. Make sure you have the correct spelling, which yours may be, if you’re going to search the Internet for this item.

RE: Replacing a Lawnmower Seal

I've looked around the internet and have not been able to find anything specific about replacing a lawnmower seal. I'm just guessing here but I think it would be similar to replacing a seal on a car engine.

First, unbolt where the gasket goes. Make sure to clean both sides (where the gasket was) of old gasket. When both sides are very clean (use some gasket solvent and very fine 000 steel wool) then set down the gasket using some gasket cement and bolt it down. I'm a very novice mechanic so if there are any with more expertise, please jump in.

We had a recent request on repairing lawnmowers. Here is the link to that request which gives some sites to check.

Sorry we can't be more help.
