Crape Paper Wrapping for Teenagers

Except for 1 brother my siblings and I are all now grandparents. Each Christmas I make the little ones special bags specified to each one of them. Last year I struggled on how to make my 3 nephews, who are teenagers something just for them. I bought crepe paper (streamer type) and started wrapping. I layered candy, gift cards, cards, fishing lures, etc... They're gifts looked funny but they had a great time unwrapping their gifts. Fun for everyone!

These are called balibamis (bal-i-bam-ies) and we enjoyed these as kids many, many years ago. I'm of German and Dutch heritage so I'm guessing the country of origin is in eastern Europe. Grandma made rag rugs and she got a balibami made of strips of fabric with new needles, buttons, and a thimble wrapped inside. There's your history lesson for the day!

This is a wonderful idea! Especially for teenage boys who can sometimes be a bit jaded & hard to buy & wrap for... I bet you had just as much fun watching them unwrap the gifts as they did actually unwrapping them!
