Building a Swing Set

Does anyone have a free blueprint for a wooden swing set they could send me? Or does anyone have ideas for building a nice swing set for not too much money.

RE: Building a Swing Set

Years ago a friend of ours purchased an expensive swingset/slide/tent... made of wood and were told to put something on it annually to keep the wood in shape.
Well, they didn't.
The result was a couple of thousand dollar's worth of playground equipment with vicious splinters.
May I suggest you find out about the appropriate preservative and use it.

Nicole, my advice would be to see if anyone you know wants to get rid of a swingset. You might be able to get one for free. You'd have to be able to take it apart and transport it tho.

I think the wooden swingsets are very nice looking, however wood these days is quite expensive. By the time you buy all the supplies you need and spend your time putting it together, it really is a lot of time and money spent for not that long your children will use it.

We bought our children a metal swingset and it has served the purpose very well. It has a slide, 2 swings, glider and chin up bar and brand new was only $89. Pretty soon, stores will have them on sale.

Our kids are 8 and 6 (soon to have birthdays) and still enjoy the swingset; however in a few more years they won't. Finding someone to take this one will be easier since it can be dismantled. I am not sure how one takes apart the wooden ones but I imagine you can but then that is more of an undertaking, I'm sure.

Well good luck....oh and you might find plans for the wooden playsets at a home improvement center.
