Watch for False Advertising

Try to look at your receipt when you buy big-ticket items like a flat screen T.V. My husband was alert enough to see that Best Buy advertised a high definition T.V. from Sony with higher pixels or some other technical term but were selling an older version. It may not be much for average folks like us, but we were able to switch the TV to a brand new model just out in the market after using the older one for more than 2 months since the TV had been falsely advertised.

Yes, here in the east it is just as much a crime as in CA. Unfortunately tho, the stores get by with it because so many people don't pay attention. The ones that do NOT pay attention more than outweigh the ones that do, so the fees or fines or whatever they have to pay when someone catches them at it are outweighed by the profits they've made off the people that don't.
In this day and age, the stores are using every trick in the book to make a profit, and many times they don't worry about the legality of their tactics.

I don't know about back East, but in California, bait and switch is a crime. No wonder they were so happy to grease your palm. You should send a letter to your Attorney General about what happened to you. Maybe you'll save others the same grief.
