Crochet Dolls - Putting Together The Parts

I am crocheting dolls from a pattern book called Crochet Confections - I have made all the body parts and I don't know how to assemble them. The book does not show how to put them together - would any one know how to do this and show me how?

I would think that a simple overcast stitch with yarn and a yarn needle would do it.
