Uses For Leftover Pound CakeMaangle Feedback About This Post:RE: Uses For Leftover Pound CakeI like to use leftover pound cake for bread pudding. It is great. Post By Dan (Guest Post) RE: Uses For Leftover Pound Cake
We slice the pound cake, put butter in frying pan then put the cake in. Make sure both sides have a little butter when frying. Then right before you take it out add jelly or jam on top. Let it set for a few to warm up we turn it over and let it get hot that way. You can serve with cool whip but we like it just with the jelly on it. Yum making me hungry now for some. Post by Dgrams RE: Uses For Leftover Pound CakeOne of my family's favorite desserts is to top a slice of pound cake with canned sliced peaches and cool whip. It is yummy. We have also used fresh strawberries or blueberries or sliced bananas too instead of the peaches. Post By Diane (Guest Post) RE: Uses For Leftover Pound CakeUse it for chocolate fondue! Cube the left over pound cake to make it easier to dip into the melted chocolate ... yummy... Post by Melissa W. RE: Uses For Leftover Pound CakeBreak the pound cake into pieces and layer it with vanilla pudding and bananas in a deep glass bowl and top with cool whip. Post By toehead (Guest Post) RE: Uses For Leftover Pound CakeEnglish nannies used leftover (and stale!) cake with which to make Trifles. Line a large glass bowl or dish with the cake (toasted, if you wish--good flavor!), heap cut-up fruits, layered with whipped topping (fat-free works fine), decorate top and enjoy. Many edibles can be added to the contents: crumbled cookies, nuts, etc. (f using "trifle bowl," don't forget to decorate around inside next to glass. Complements will be coming! (You can add a bit of sherry over each layer of cake, if you wish; imagine the nannies used this to get their charges to sleep!) Post by Exasperated RE: Uses For Leftover Pound Cake
Along the same lines as the previous post, I would use it for shortcake for strawberries...mmmm. Also, if you just can't eat it all right now, wrap it in foil and put it in the freezer as it should keep well that way until you want some more. Post by Trudy Powell RE: Uses For Leftover Pound CakeTry slicing it, popping it into the toaster or toaster oven until it's a little crispy and brown, then topping with ice cream and strawberry preserves ( or caramel, chocolate sauce.) Especially yummy if you like warm desserts! Post By Claudia (Guest Post) |
