Make Your Own Dog Ramps (Steps)
I have two large dogs weighing 88lbs each. It was difficult for me to put them in my SUV. I searched for inexpensive ramps but, was not willing to pay the price. A search on google for "inexpensive dog ramps" turned up a site that gave my directions for making my own dog steps. They are made from cutting a sheet of styrofoam insulation into rectangular pieces, bigger pieces for the bottom and smaller pieces for the top step. These are glued and taped together until they are the height you need. I covered the sides of mine with "wood" contact paper and the top with astroturf. I put a cabinet door handle on the end to make it easier to pick up. This is so lightweight but strong enough for my dogs to climb up on. They just walk right up into the truck. Didn't even have to train them! Love it!!
By Artlady from Edmond, OK Feedback About This Post:RE: Make Your Own Dog Ramps (Steps)The styrofoam sheets can be found in the lumber dept. of Lowe's or Home Depot. If you can't find them, ask someone where the sheets of styrofoam insulation can be found. You can also find scraps at construction sites. They will usually let you have as much as you want. The sheets are usually about 2 to 3" thick. Post by Artlady RE: Make Your Own Dog Ramps (Steps)That's so smart! I have been searching for used dog ramps, because I couldn't afford what the stores wanted. Even then they weren't tall enough for my 3 legged cat to get on my super high bed. THANKS AGAIN for sharing! P.s. Where did u find the styrofoam? :) Post By Rhonda (Guest Post) RE: Make Your Own Dog Ramps (Steps)
I tried to view the link to the website I gave in an earlier post, for directions to make the dog steps. It doesn't seem to be working any longer. So, I'll give directions here. Post By Artlady (Guest Post) RE: Make Your Own Dog RampsOkay, here's a picture of my dog steps. Hope this helps. Post By Artlady (Guest Post) RE: Make Your Own Dog Ramps
Smaller ones of these would be good for mini and regular dash hounds that are allowed on the couch (like my sons). Post by Har'iet RE: Make Your Own Dog Ramps
