Hazard: The stools can unexpectedly collapse during use, causing a consumer to fall to the floor.

Incidents/Injuries: Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. has received two reports of incidents in which the kitchen stool collapsed. A 10 year old boy received bruises when the kitchen stool collapsed and he fell.

Description: The Rooster Kitchen Stool is about two feet tall and one foot in diameter. It has light brown wood and has a rooster painted on the seat. "Made in China" item number 260161 are printed on a sticker under the seat.

Sold at: Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® locations nationwide from February 2007 through March 2007 for about $30.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these kitchen stools immediately and return them to any Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for a full refund.

If you check your labels, China pretty much makes all of our products, not just a few decent ones. Cheap or expensive, almost no manufacturing is done in the U.S. anymore. Don't know what the answer is, but blaming a whole country for shoddy workmanship doesn't seem to be it.

You know, China seems to have a vindetta against America because it produces WAY too many bad products, and only a FEW decent ones worth the money. I hope it improves. I always check anything
that's glued before I take it home, regardless of who made it, even from curbside finds. If loose, I consider whether or not it's worth trying to reglue it. It is often a poor design and angel that causes the original problem/failure. I seldom buy toys from China, where too many recalls are originating AFTER the damage is done. Stay alert and test all merchandise. Be choosey if you can, even if it's free. God Bless you. : )
