How To Decoupage Candles

The Supplies
  • Candle
  • Sealer
  • Glue
  • Paper cutouts
  • Oil based varnish
  • Clear Tape
  • Sanding Pad

The Technique

  • Mark the area of your design on the candle
  • Gently sand the area to be painted with a sanding pad.
  • Thinly coat the area with varnish.
  • Allow 24 hours to pass.
  • Apply another thin coat.
  • Apply paper cutouts with glue

I decoupaged candles a while back using the instructions I found here. These instructions don't require varnish, only a decoupage sealant. Seems like varnish would be flammable.
