Jello Alternative - Jello With Yogurt1 cup plain nonfat yogurt instead of cold water Dissolve the jello in 1 cup of hot water as the box directions say. Put the yogurt in the bowl you plan to use for the jello and slowly whisk in the jello, stirring with the whisk until no lumps remain, although lumps don't hurt the taste. Chill until set. The yogurt cuts the sweetness of the jello and adds nutrition. If you want to dress it up, whipped cream can put on top when serving. By Lynn Feedback About This Post:RE: Jello Alternative - Jello With YogurtThis is really good. Makes Trix style yogurt they sell in the store for kids. To be even more thrifty, make your own yogurt as well. It's very easy and a yogurt maker is not required. Just take a gallon of milk with 1 cup yogurt, place in a warm place for 8-10 hours. Making this with homemade yogurt only costs about 5 cents per 6 oz serving. Compare that to Trix yogurt. (if it's still avaiable, I haven't seen it lately but I believe the last time I seen it, it was $2.50 for 6 servings). Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) |
