Help With a Wild Pit BullAnyways, someone is going to shoot him soon if he sticks around. Does anyone know how I should go about approaching this dog? I'd like to adopt him or whatever, but I have to be able to approach him, obviously. I'd really appreciate any tips or advice! I think he would make an ok dog because people told me he would hang around their houses and try to get them to feed him. He can't be that bad! He's a gorgeous dog, too. ;) Sophia Feedback About This Post:RE: Help With a Wild Pit BullI would also call your local animal control office. Since you are in a rural area, the best place to start would probably be the local sheriff's office. Do not attempt to capture this animal yourself. Both you and the dog could be seriously injured. Thank you all so much! I really appreciate all the suggestions. I'm so surprised I got all these responses within a couple days! I can't call animal control (because they asked us "why" we didn't shoot it, lol) but I'm going to talk to a vet about the dog and I won't approach him. I just saw him yesterday (I was in a car). We stopped, he was standing in some tall grass looking at me but he didn't do anything. He looked almost shy. I hope all goes well. Again, thanks a lot! :) Post By Sophia (Guest Post) RE: Help With a Wild Pit BullWhatever you do... DO NOT go near it, it may be rabid or dangerous. Maybe you could put some food out and try to make friends with it after a while when it gets more used to you but right now, I would not go near it. It could also attack your dog. You could call animal control and then if it checks out, you may could keep it. Good luck Post By Willene (Guest Post) RE: Help With a Wild Pit Bull
May I just say I have owned a few pit bulls they are the most loving animals in the world! But you don't know this one's past history and what he is experiencing at all! and what he has experienced! I would not approach him alone for one. Either bring a few friends in case something happens OR bring out a veterinarian to just give him a sleep medication. So you can at least take him to the vets with you and have him checked over. Post by mainemom207 RE: Help With a Wild Pit Bull
Pit Bulls are tricky, because if they are neglected from a young age they are likely to turn to their natural reaction: To bite. And they are very prone to be dog aggressive (and sometimes people). It is great that you are trying to help though, most people fear pit bulls simply because of their appearance. Post By Mustard (Guest Post) RE: Help With a Wild Pit BullI have a pit bull and he was a stray. I had the local animal shelter call the police and they came down and knocked the dog out with a shot once the caught her after that she was taken to a the the animal hospital and got fixed as soon as I got her in the house she jumped on me and started licking my face like she had been my dog for years i was great so once you get the dog under control go and see if you can keep the dog as a pet they are really great pets to have and with a good owner. I will live a long healthy life. cat lover 1 Post By cat lover 1 (Guest Post) RE: Help With a Wild Pit Bull
