Saving Money on Baby Clothes
Buy And Sell OnlineI have a four year old daughter and a newborn son and buying new clothes all the time is expensive! I found two websites that let people buy and sell used children's clothing. They are both awesome sites!By Crystal Yard SalesWhat did we ever do before Yard Sales? After all, new clothes are used clothes once they have been washed. When my kids were young, they helped clothe my family. I have a special little grandson who stays with me a lot and I buy play clothes so that when he comes, I have my own little stash that I don't care if he plays in. Then I send him home in his good clothes. You gotta look for GOOD clothing at yard sales.By MamawKC Take Hand-Me-Downs and Other TipsDon't be afraid of hand-me downs. If someone offers you hand-me downs, take them! Go through them and whatever you don't want or can't use, give away to someone who can. If you get hand-me downs that are too big for your child, store them in rubbermaid totes until you child can wear them. My daughter is 11 months old and I have clothes stored up that she'll be 4 or 5 years old before she can wear them.Yard sales and thrift stores are great places to buy baby clothes. You can find things that still have price tags on them for hardly nothing. Also, buying clothes off season will help you save a lot too. I got my daughter sweat shirts for the winter in July for just $1 each at Wal-Mart. When searching the sales racks, if I find something I just love marked down cheap, I'll buy it even if she won't wear it for a while. Kids are forever needing clothes, no matter what size they're in, so why not buy something ahead of time when it's cheap like that instead of waiting? By BrookesMommy Buy Ahead and Store Good DealsYard Sales are the best! Even buy ahead, especially for kids under age two, simply because they grow so quickly. They mostly stay in jammies and bibs anyway. My boys, all summer babies, stayed in onesies or t-shirts, cloth diapers, plastic pants, and booties until the weather got cooler. If you are a SAHM, babies only need a few good outfits for visiting/going out.By Thkgranny Baby Clothes Swap MeetThey have one weekend a year here in the convention center when you can go and buy, sell, swap and trade baby clothes. You might plan one for your house and invite others to set up a table My daughter bought all her first born's baby clothes at yard sales. When she was finished with them, she had a yard sale and was able to sell them for what she paid for them.Brand New Clothes At GoodwillI go to Goodwill and often find brand name clothes in great condition. After the yard sales is a great time to look. You could also check Ebay for lots, etc. I've found clothes sorted by size for 99 cents plus shipping. Good luck!By Awanawr Tie Dye Stained Baby ClothesClothing received a slight stain; Tie dye it to your favourite colour or pink or blue for your baby. I did this with my cloth nappies, and singlets to get a little more use out of them, they are more funky coloured than white anyway. So you get to make a fashion statement as well as saving your self money.By Oggette01 Feel free to post your ideas below! Post by dixie35481 RE: Saving Money on Baby ClothesTry calling consignment shops in your area. Sometimes they not only carry adult but baby and children's clothing as well. Post By Debradj (Guest Post) RE: Saving Money on Baby ClothesIn our city we have a mothers with multiples club. They have sales with used baby items once a year and raise money for our local adoption agencies. See if maybe something like this is in your town. I am so grateful for hand me downs. I ask mothers with children for them and then separate by season and size in rubbermaid tubs in the basement. I can't believe the prices on clothes for kids, its so expensive. Also whatever I have too much of in a particular size and season I pass along. People know that I will take it all, plus it makes people feel good to know that their stuff is going to a good cause and not some bin in a parking lot that is going to get turned around and resold for profit. Also for my shower, (my third kid), I requested used baby clothes, as a gift, I will hopefully get a fair amount. Post by mommamoody RE: Saving Money on Baby ClothesRequest and offer baby clothes (and other things) on FreeCycle.com in your area. Post By Nance (Guest Post) RE: Saving Money on Baby Clothes
