Feedback About This Post:RE: Keeping Kids BusySummer can be the biggest challenge for Middle School aged kids. They're getting too big to be at a babysitter and too young to stay home all day alone. I checked with my city libary and was pleased to find that kids as yound as 12 years old can volunteer their time during the summer. My daughter assisted in the summer reading program handing out prizes and helping little ones find books. This was a step in the direction of someday having an actual job because it gave her experience following direction. The best part is that it gave her experience in being a responsible pre-teen. Bonus: She can receive college scholarship money for voluteer hours.
