Cheapest Cell Phone
Are there any cell phone services with which one can use a calling card, getting the cost down to 3 to 10 cents per minute?
I want to buy a phone without a contract, Is there such a thing?
Any suggestions?

Get the boost phone, you can buy a plain one for around $20 and for $50 a month, you get unlimited phone calls, internet, texting, two waying. You can't beat it. If I wasn't already tied down with a two year contract on a cell phone, I would get the boost. I know several people who have them and love it. You can also put just $10 a month on it too but you obviusly don't get unlimited usage.

I use Virgin Mobile service. They have contract as well as pay as you go plans. I don't use my phone frequently, so I have the plan where I pay $20 every three months. This suits me fine. They also have other options to suit your needs. They may be worth a try.

Net 10. Buy the phone for about 30.00 and get 300 minutes (essentially phone is free) they have direct plans where you can add 150 min per month for 15.00 if you'd like. Otherwise just add as you go. Each person in my family have one. Only problem with them is if you need support make sure you're good at understanding accents! For the most part they have been very helpful

I have a tracfone but I lose any minutes. I have after 3 months. There is no monthly fee on my plan. Can't say how much it costs per unit as I only used it for the 3 months and that was bought for me by my daughter. My question is: is a unit a minute?

I bought a TRAC Phone and I love it, its by motorola and resembles the RAZOR. Its also a camera phone, that works awesome. You can get these on sale at Kmart for $ 29.99 sometimes. This phone also gets automatic double minutes for life, so if you buy 200 mins, its automatic 400 minutes.

Yes, here is the cheapest cell phone. It's call net 10 and it cost 30 dollars and you get the phone and 300 minutes and every three month you pay 30 dollars again and there is no contract , and your minutes build up according to how much you use the cell phone, It's call net 10 and can be purchased at Walmart stores all over the United States. Buy the sprint pre-paid phones. The phones are high quality so they are a little pricey, but the more minutes you buy for your phone the cheaper it gets, and its all phone cards you can buy at stores. I think there was one for 750 minutes for $24-$27, which is a steal if you ask me. You should look into it.

If you keep your usage to just "essential" calls, the T-mobile prepaid deal for 1000 minutes for $100 and no expiration for 1 year is pretty good. You can generally buy the $100 cards on ebay for less than $90, no taxes, email pin delivery. One card lasts me about 6 months, which amounts to $15/mo. I live in eastern Mass. and the coverage is generally very good. A few dead spots here and there but I don't know of any carriers that don't get those type of complaints.

I use Net10 and have for several months. I never had a problem with it. I pay around $12 a month (this will depend on the airtime card you buy).

I just got a net10 phone. I paid $43.69 for a reconditioned motorola v171 phone. It came with 300 nationwide (local/longdistance) minutes included. and they last for 60 days. You can buy more minutes for 10 cents a minute, if you buy 300 for $30, they last 60 more days. I don't talk much and this is the best deal for me. If you're interested, go to www.net10.com.

I, too have Tracpone Prepaid. I got it mainly for emergency situations. I purchased the prepaid for a yr which amounted to about $10.00 per month which is much cheaper than any of the oher plans. I am hard of hearing and have found with some adjustments in the hearing aids - turning them up to LOUD and the cell phone to the loudest volume that I am able to hear quite well. Well.... there is also t-mobil prepaid. You spend $100 on a prepaid card and you get 1000 minutes. It last for one year. This is very good. Although buying less minutes might be a little expansive. You can get a great camra phone or a basic. This is good for emergency calls and medium talkers. With track u must pay $20 a month to still have your service available. For a year.... that's a lot of money. Pay the big dough at first, that way u save quite a lot. it might be hard to find the $100 cards, just go to t-mobil or buy by phone. You can buy the phone at wal mart with a little saving. I hope you find this helpful.

Justalk sounds great, but the computer will not go there. How can I get in touch with them? Does anyone know of any other similar deals? The one I had with AT&T is no longer available. I have a phone already, but need a service. I use the phone only for quick or emergency calls, so need to buy some minimum minutes, and keep them till I need them.

Justalk is the cheapest and is nationwide minutes not local. $50 cards are good for 250 minutes and $30 cards for 150 minutes. Plus minutes never expire if you use at least 20 minutes a month. $10 & $20 cards are also available. Plus I get them off Ebay or at www.phoneshark.com for a discount. I bought 2 Nokia TDMA phones off Ebay for $20.00 and called Justalk.They activated and gave me local phone numbers for both phones(for free) just by buying 2 prepaid phone cards.

I am dissatisfied with my TracFone service. Partially since I am a teenager and I love to talk and send text messages on my cell phone I don't find that the amount of money is suitable for the amount of minutes you recieve. Ok a week ago I went to WalMart and bought a 100 unit card for $30 and now I have used 26 units on text messages alone (at .5 unit for one incoming or outgoing text)! I don't think that it is worth it but I guess do whatever you want!

I too own a trac-fone. I have been very happy with it. I went onto tracfone.com and clicked on re-conditioned phones for 29.99 and 100 free minutes. I don't talk on mine for just any reason, it's for emergencies only, or something very important. I only have to buy a minimum of $18.00 every 60 days for a card so I don't lose my current phone number. . I usually have minutes to spare when it's time to buy a card. It's cheap and no contracts to sign!

I've saved enough with their service as compared to other carriers that I've even been able to set my wife and oldest son up with a cell phone of their own. I have a prepaid one from Alltel that suits me perfectly. It does cost 50 cents a minute, but there is no time limit for using your prepaid minutes or they will expire. What you do is get a phone (I'm using an old one of my daughter's) and put as much money on it as you wish. I put $20.00 on mine about eight months ago, and I still have almost $10. You must make one call every 30 days or they charge $4.00 for keeping the line open. This may not suit you if you talk a lot, but for those of use who carry a phone "just in case" it's perfect! My husband has a regular cell, so we use that most of the time. My stays turned off in my purse unless I need it.
The other prepaid plans we had allowed you about 45 days to use the money you had already paid in or it would expire. Don't think any of them have contracts.
I can't make long distance calls without paying thru the nose, but my phone is good as a local in our whole area code.

I think if you own your own phone you don't have to sign a contract, or you can at least buy prepaid minutes. Look on EBay for cell phones, some of the basic used ones are pretty cheap, just be sure the provider services your area. You could also call the provider ahead of time (the seller will show on their listing what provider the phone is set up for) and ask them what plans they have that don't require a contract. Good one to check might be Verizon - I know for sure they have some prepaid plans. Good luck. GL :)

I am not sure where you live but there is a cell phone company here in Oklahoma called cricket and for 39.95 a month you get completely unlimited min. and there is no contract its really a great deal no tricks or gimmicks all unlimited no matter how many min you use 1 or 10000

(This ad sometimes comes up as the featured ad on the page, so you may be able to just click on the center of the page.) I bought the reconditioned cell phone package for $29.99 and have been very happy with the phone and the package. I also got 100 free minutes with the deal. Althought I got the book with $200 Bonus Airtime Savings, I don't think I'll use many, if any, of the coupons. Still, I found this deal MUCH less expensive than buying a TracFone at Wal-Mart or Kmart or any other retail store.

Have you looked into pre-paid. There are quite a few out there. Sprint has Virgin, and there is Trac Phone that can be purchased all most anywhere (Wal Mart or Kmart carries then). You buy a card that has a certain amount of minutes on them. You repurchase cards as you need them.

I used my old Cingular, Nokia cell phone and I purchase Kic cards from Wal-mart and Family Dollar stores. FD sell $10. cards, WM sells from $20.-up, using this card each minute at .10 cents. I had to go to a Cingular store to started.

I hyave a TRACFONE. I pay a small fee monthly-- under $10 and then replenish my minutes as needed. I only use the phone in emergenecy situations, not just for run of the mill phone calls, so I don't have to replenish but once a year or so.Locate them on tracfone.com
