To make sure that the same light fixtures, etc. are there when you move in take along a digital camera with you prior to you moving in. Then when you move in compare. I also would get it in writing that all light fixtures & anything else you agreed on would be left.

RE: Buying a Home - Tips

Just a minute, friends! I'm an experienced professional realtor and, in my experience, these kinds of incidents are VERY rare. When it has happened in one of the transactions I was involved in, it was the seller, NOT any of the realtors, who took items that should have stayed with the home. But this is a good time to remind everyone: be very careful in choosing the real estate professional who will represent you. Most in the industry are honest, hard-working folks who take pride in helping people with home buying and selling. Like in any profession, there are a few rotten apples. Ask friends and neighbors for references.

RE: Buying a Home - Tips

I had this happen to me as well. The day we moved into our home, the basement light fixture was gone, they left a ligthbulb hanging form the ceiling and in my living was supposed to be a huge wall length mirror on one of the walls, the day we moved in, all that was left was about 6 huge holes in the wall from where the mirror once hung. What I learned after the sale of my home was the the sellers and my relator were related. BAD MOVE!!

Buying Home Tip

When purchasing a previously owned home, make sure when you move in, that the same light fixtures and other items that were to be in the house, are still in it. I've been told that 'some' real estate agents switch out what the previous owners left for the new buyers and take them home for themselves, instead. So, new buyers, make sure you're getting all you're supposed to get!
