Avoid Buying Stainless Steel Appliances

A pal, who cleans houses, says not to buy stainless steel appliances, as they're hard to keep clean. She said they're all nice and pretty at first, but become spotty, streaked after a while.

Terri , I have a stainless steel refrigerator, range, dishwasher, countertop and backsplash and that advice couldn't be be further from the truth. I have yet to have problems with mine. I use olive oil and a clean, lint-free cloth to polish things once a week and my kitchen shines.

I agree with Sylvia - it's all stainless in our house. I have two kids (fingerprints galore!) and each night when I clean up the kitchen, I take a second to just wipe down the fridge and stove. Cleaning stainless takes just as much time as cleaning any other appliance.

I disagree. I never buy an appliance if it's not stainlesssteel. All it takes to get rid of any streaks or fingerprints is a clean cloth with a little rubbing alcohol or a microfiber cloth rubbed all over. The shine comes back in a second & you don't even have to exert much effort.

SAME GOES FOR WHITE SINKS. WE BOUGHT AN ENAMEL ONE. BIG MISTAKE. IT'S HARD TO KEEP CLEAN AND SHOWS EVERY NICK AND GOUGE MARK
